  • These are SO amazing, well done!

I am planning on doing movie themed baskets for my parents and in-laws, with a DVD, blockbuster rental voucher (from pigsback using my piggyoints), popcorn, chocolate, mugs, tea/coffee/hot choc, nuts/crisps and maybe some beer for FIL.

For hubby I am doing a "winter warmer" one, new dressing gown and slippers, chocolate, dvd or PC game and a few other bits.

I am going to use some M&S vouchers we got last year that we STILL haven't spent!! LOL.

The baskets I have are plain wicker ones, I was wondering if anyone had some ideas for what I could use to line them with?

If you havent got the mugs as yet, how about a photo mug for £1.99 from Truprint (look on the grabbit board for the code) I think they're normally about £7. Perhaps have a photo of your nephew in a man u shirt on it?

Also I saw some England mug sets in Soccer World last week for £2.

Shredded paper if you have a shredder.

I also use fabric.....It doesnt have to be new as long as its clean and ironed first. I have bought clothing from car boots and jumble sales that the fabric catches my eye....chrismasy colours, glittery or colours to match your hampers. I have been lucky enough to buy dresses (which tend to be best or skirts) and cut the fabric into a couple of squares, hemmed the edges and then scrunched into baskets. Or if you dont have a huge amount of fabric and its a big basket use recyled bubble wrap underneath it.

For the movie theme hamper how about asking your dvd store if they have any old leaflets (ours bring new ones out every month with releases on) and then use those slightly scrunched up as a base for your hamper.

These inspired me so much today that this afternoon i went out and brought the baskets and bits for two my mum and sister in law.

i found some really nice baskets in my tesco extra store but cant find them online. There were a set of 2 wicker basket with cloth lining for £3.68 and then the ones i brought were called a seagrass shelf basket with metal handles on each side, which looked a bit more expensive they were £3.98 each.

i brought a load of bits from poundland and wilkinson to fill them up i will take some pictures later and put them on here.:D

  • This has motivated me to do one for my lovely, elderly neighbours (who are like grandparents to my children). Decided to do a bird themed one as they like feeding the birds in their garden. I got:

Lined basket £4 (was lovely and worth the extra price)
    Bird Calender £2.99
    Roosting pouch £1
    Wooden bird feeder £2.99
    Peanuts £1
Bell shaped bird seed thingy £1
    Packet of fat balls £1
Magnet pad with picture of birds on front 50p

So a total of £14.50. It looks lovely wrapped in cellophane and tied with some burgundy organza that I had which matches part of the pattern in the basket.
