  • I made a "mini" danish gift for MIL at the weekend as we were popping through to see her and she likes a treat every now and again.

I got a cinnamon whirl from sainsburys popped it into a cellophane bag with a sachet of latte (from a box of 10 we had) and tied with a pretty ribbon.

She really liked it. I think its lovely to present something nicely... it can make the simplest of things look great.

Had a bit of a 'panic buy' this morning. I'd forgotten ex foster girls hubby's birthday !! It's today so I rushed down town looking in charity shops for stuff........best I could do on the 'blokey' side was a black and white striped apron and oven glove (He does a lot of the cooking)......brand new but reduced to £1.47.
Then on to woolworths.........got a 'hotwheels motobike'...........he's what you'd call a fair weather biker so got this one just for a bit of a giggle....£4 Then spotted leather box reduced to £5 so grabbed that (He'd prefer something like that to a basket and its a pressie in it's own right).
Got home and looked out a candle I'd got that's in a glass .........£1........and rooted out a large man type coffee mug that was bought for OH two years ago and never been used. Popped in a sachet of cappacino and some sprinkly choccy..........that cost me nothing.
Wrapped them up in brown paper .........hadn't got any birthday wrapping and got reams of the brown stuff.
All in all it cost me around £11.47...............more than I wanted to spend -just shows what happens if its left till the last minute............lol

Im new to all this just read something off the boots thread, but what dya think about these baskets instead of the general wicker ones, what would you prefer?

Sorry I dont know if the link will work.

The baskets arrived today, i'd ordered pink ones, will use them for Xmas hampers and filled with bits for female relatives. They aren't particulary big but are "big enough" to make a nice present out of. They were £2.99 but have a tag attached saying £4.99 (probably wouldn't have paid that for them though).
Will probably get some blue ones for male relatives. The square cream ones were out of stock when i checked earlier but Wilkinson site is good at updating so will probably be back in stock soon.

I love that design and similar designs like the ones with shoes and handbags on lol.

I was in Boots this week, or last, I can't remember now, but spotted these:

I couldn't resist buying one :o lol, but then I remembered your picture and wondered if it would be easy to source the 'cake cups'?

I'm not sure if that link I posted shows it, but some of the flannels have a small pearl filled with gel or soap or something - they're really pretty but pricey ;)

We have been making these on the
does anyone know how to make
this thread on here,at the start there
are some examples of what everyones made
so far,so easy to do and we have been
buying the cup cases off ebay.
You can top them with just about anything
give it a go its so easy and the instructions
are at the beginning of the thread.
they end up costing a fraction of the
    shop price.

    if your looking for cellophane
the widest is 33 inches wide
there are sellers on ebay who
sell it on buy it now.
I use one thats 20 inches wide

Have you weighed your baskets ?
1.25 kg is £5.50 on recorded post
just to give you an idea.

id you list this for £10 you have to
factor in 35p listing fee plus final
value fees and then if they pay
on paypal just off the top of my head
    around 30/40p.

hate to sound like a doom and gloom merchant
but if it were me I think I would go with
    something around £10.99/£11.99
and that tea towel I would make it into
    a cushion,a good light weight,space filler
    plus it then becomes something
    decorative and practical.Plus it adds
to the appeal because more people
would prefer to get a cupcake cushion
    than a tea towel.

Do the front in cupcake fabric
and stripy on the back.Make it up as a throw
    pillow/cushion.Sew three sides,fill and sew
    up the fourth side.

    That's lovely rosekitten :)

This is just a flying visit but thought I'd mention that I spotted pyjamas in a similar design in TJ Hughes for £3 (only reduced from £4 or £5 though  ). I was tempted to buy a pair just for the material lol.

Btw, I bought some wicker laundry baskets in Poundland today! Obviously, only £1 each and ideal for hampers but I'd call before making a journey there.

They're obviously not as good as, say, the lined laundry baskets that I bought for £4.50 each for Christmas, but just the ticket for what most people need.

Bought something else that I meant to mention but in a rush and can't think right now, so I'll pop back later and catch up a bit better. :)

Here's the 50th birthday hamper for hubbies birthday tomorrow. I also bought him a cocker spaniel puppy 5 months old, which he got tonight and she's just lovely and the card in the front of the hamper is a subscription to a magazine he loves.
Here's all the things in it plus a naughty mug which I forgot to take piccie of
    100_0019.jpg

Here it is all done up.

Thanks luvbargains, I did do the chocs and biscuits myself.
I posted a pic of the chocs in the choc slab thread and a pic of the biscuits in the bum cookies thread.
I did a lot of pic posting today but I was excited yet nervous all at the same time. LOL
