    Looks great. Well done
  • Thank you all you lovely people.:A I found this thread when I was very down just before last christmas lots of grandchildren and not much money. I had some different shaped baskets left over from flower arranging and christmas hamper days also a lot of little gifts but they looked lost just put in a bag. I made all the grandchildren hampers and toolboxes. They looked a fablious. Now this year I am going to be a great Grandma and a second cousion once removed.(Cousins daughters is expecting) They are both going to get a welcome baby hamper. Keep posting I love looking at all your lovely handywork. I couldnt work the digital camera so I couldnt take any pictures of mine but I will master it before the new arrivals come.:T

I'm doing hampers for my grandchildren this year............they'll be 16, have everything you could wish for and it sort of leaves me out in the cold but I know they still love to open little bits and presented the right way they can look more expensive than they actually are. I love the idea...........gives each present the 'personal' touch.
It's all too easy to pop into a shop and buy something off the shelf (if you've got the money of course). We're on a tight budget and I'm relying on charity shop finds (we lack Poundland I'm afraid).

Thanks for the advice Rosekitten. I have made a few different ones up now and plan to sell them at a car bootie on Sunday (weather permitting). I have made some of the chocolate on the 'chocolate slab' thread and put them in little cellophane bags. I will let you know how I get on.

Hi Bumbles, i've sent you a couple of PM's but heard nothing back. Just wanted to check that you actually got them!

I've just remembered what I'd forgotten yesterday :o;)

Bodycare are doing black Sure towels for 29p.

They're the microfibre type that I imagine come in the gift sets and probably best used in boys/mens sports bags. Having said that, I bought a few for baskets/and for use at work, and they're pretty useful. Even tried them at home and although they might not be a popular colour, they do a good job of drying your hands (and face!) ;) A bonus is they take up very little room.

They also had Dove body mitts for 19p.

I know a lot of you aren't near a Bodycare shop, so I'll apologise for that in advance. :)

I was in Asda and spotted these
    floating candles reduced to 75p
thought it was just our branch
but noticed when we were in
another larger Asda that they were
the same reduced price there too.
    there are three contrasing shades
in the box 2 of each colour and each
rose is individualy shrink wrapped in
cellophane so these could be split up
    into small amounts.I thought these
would make a nice filler for baskets.
They also have pot pouri reduced
to £1,nice glass candle holders 75p
box of two cushioned trinket boxes 75p

Also if you took everything out of the
box and used nail varnish to get the
label off you could re-use the box for
    something else.

For anyone putting together a basket for a new mum/baby etc, Sainsburys have reduced loads of baby toiletries by half price. Not just own brand either - brands such as Huggies, Johnsons, Pampers etc.

A lot of the stuff is just a few pence and well worth grabbing.

just got back from home bargains and they have some great dark wicker baskets for 99p. They are the ideal size for making your own hampers. I have just made three up, one mil's birthday two mothers days hampers!:j
