Recommendations for a luxury car

Chrysler 300c, Autotrader have 200 odd vehicles available nationwide for a max price of £15k. Big car, loads of space, loads of kit for a reasonable amount of money. I wouldn't personally got for BMW or Mercedes, real wheel drive, usless if you need to go out in a repeat of this winters weather, almost every street around me and on my way to work there were bm's and merc's parked up, and it's the same story with loads of friends.
Personally I'd get something eco friendly and never mind the luxury, hire a limo for a day!!Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

You do realise that the Chrysler 300c is rear wheel drive???
Personally I wouldn't let a five days a year dictate my car for the other 360.
I had a BMW Z4 3.0.....2 years I owned it, and in those two years I never couldn't use it due to weather. I even took it to Bridge of Orchy and Glen Etive in the snow and it was fine.
A large amount of a car's ability in the snow is down to the driver - I've seen numerous front wheel drive cars struggle and even saw a 4x4 stuck because of the incompetence of the driver.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

They have sadly justsold the Merc E220CDi they listed last week, but it had just over 110k on it, was a 57 plate in black with autobox and leather, it was up for £10.5k.
.
What Spec of E Class was that?... Avanteguard? Elegance?0 -

Are they not based on a mix and match Chassis from the E & the S Class Mercs........0 -
7 series all the way for me, used mercs (and probably the 300c too given its running gear) still often suffer badly from rust, spurious expensive electrical problems and autobox failures. the 7s have some issues but nowhere near as flakey as the mercs. Our clk was so rusty it reminded me of 80s datsuns and austins.
my old boss has an 09 c class and I know he's a careful driver but you want to see the number of paint chips the thing has the paint is like paper mache it chips so easy.
an added bonus is while my wifes e60 5 series couldn't get out the street during the bad weather, my old trusty e38 7 series went everywhere without much bother, fared better than my fwd insignia.
The lexus is a nice car, but some spares are a bit pricey, for a pair of front disks on my mates one cheapest he could find was £450 the pair as there wasn't and pattern parts for his model.
volvo s80? seriously comfortable, very nice autobox on them.0 -

A Jag is the way to go and you don't need anywhere near £15k.
I attended a Jaguar owners club event a couple of years ago and on display was one of the last XJ12s built. 1986 model, it had been used by Government and had a file of invoices as thick as a telephone directory - every extra fitted and working.
It was absolutely mint and won the best car of the day competition. The guy who owned it was so anal even the tyres were fitted so the valves lined up with the same part of the tyre and he jacked up the car so every valve was at 12 o clock for the display, so no question it was pampered.
I then noticed a for sale sign in the back window - £4,000 at the start of the day - by the end it had dropped to £3,500 and sold shortly afterwards.
If you really do want to spend £15k, find the best old shape XJ V8 you can - start with the Jaguar Enthusiast Club and see what their members are selling.0
