Do they still do bingo beforehand? Or is that now old school? It was almost a religious experience! The silence:, I've thought people would get lynched if they talked!

LOL, not in the big caberet places, they have a couple of places where they do bingo, there is one place that they do 'proper' serious bingo and one in the arcade where they have those sliding panels that go over the numbers (I am not sure there is one in Minehead though, def Bognor and Skeggy) it's not something we have ever done tbh, but think I might when we go for our Big Weekend holiday.

We save our £1's, 50p, 20p' and 10p's though the year and use these for the arcade games, it is not like money has come out of our budget then. Loose change gets chucked in 'the pot' and that is our 'Butlins money'. Once it has gone, it's gone.

I know its not quite related, but if people like the devon/cornwall area, I find john fowler to have very good prices.

The entertainment isn't quite as good as one of the bigger companies, but it's worth considering.

Just the tickets - for 2 ad and 2 kids - are just shy of £1000 for 14 days use. Another £500 for the 2 Universal parks, Seaworld, Busch Garden and other non-Disney water parks.

we have been to disney 3 times in the last 4 years

    trip 1 cost us 6000
    trip 2 cost us 6400
    trip 3 cost us 7100

yes its for 2 weeks and staying on-site at disney, the last trip at a Deluxe hotel, we do seaworld but not universal ( as we thought the children were too young , next trip we will do universal though )

makes the 310 quid we spent on our last butlins weekend seem cheap ;)

we arrive at the center stage about 20 mins before it opens, 1 gets in the Q and the other pop and chuck a few quid into the machines, when you see the line move, be quick and join your party

this weekend just gone we saw the lazytown show ( great for our 3 yr old ) some guy from Xfactor ( the afro haired guy ) and Stavros flatley then the next night we say Brainiacs live ( though its very very similar to last years show, infact alot of it is the same ), for the Xfactor show we arrived 15 mins after it opened, we got seats at the 3rd tier, which wasnt too bad

    LOL, I know Matt.

You are going to kind of envy us then. We have a timeshare and we bank the weeks and save them to go to Orlando. Last stay was at Kidani Village and cost us a whopping £175 for the week for a 1 bed apartment, then we did OKW and stayed at HGVC opposite Seaworld (highly recommend BTW). Next trip we are staying Bay Lake Tower and either Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas. I really do not think we would stay anywhere else now as the resorts are just amazing.

We have booked again today and are hiring a convertable for a week too this time. Have dreams of flying down the highway, top down (wiping the flies from our eyes while the kids complain in the back is the reality!!). It's going to cost us 4k flights, all theme park passes, car, v-room and 2 weeks in Deluxe Villa resort.

Universal was a bit of a damp squib to be honest - it is really old and dated - now we have been we will not go back again but we'll do Islands of Adventure again as the Forbidden Journey was amazing. We was there for Halloween and went Trick or Treating at Seaworld (free) and Disney (not free) and we got so many sweets. We came back in Nov, are going in May 2012 again. Will be the last time then until DS gets to 54 inches to get on the rides that are the next 'step' up. I don;t like going and going on the same rides, we can get that fix at DLP which has better rides.

DLP is costing us £545 and we are going there soon too.

I sometimes feel like that Disney couple on 'Come Fly with Me', LOL. :o
  • I would not stay in standard tbh, we went as teens and stayed in standard and we were just a load of drunken yobs - if I am being honest. We were a nightmare so apologies if any of you go us as neighborus back then. It was just a cheap holiday.

Silver is a tad better but it is, what it is.

The entertainment queues are a nightmare and, tbh, we have never been. People start queueing at 4pm for doors opening at 7pm. I've got better things to do on my holiday but I always have a chuckle when I see them with their little deckchair, food and magazines. Surely no-one is THAT desperate to see BGT or XF non-winners?? :rotfl:

Have look next time you go past Centre Stage at 4pm time. There is ALWAYS someone in the queue.

    It says silver?? Not standard.
    If it ain't reduced, i don't buy it! :j

I am very tempted by DVC, i keep on getting e.mails from the timeshare company ( or whatever they are called ) and we love OKW and VWL ( so both resale )
we allmost purchased when the $ was 2 for 1 ( 2 and 1/2 years ago ) i couldnt find the right contract though ( 125 points )
I havent looked for a while as the free DDP helps me in my thoughts of " saving money " :rotfl::rotfl:

We have never done DLP, i am worried it will not measure up to WDW

Disney has never appealed to me really ~ it's not my idea of a holiday to be walking around all day and queing to go on rides.

If I won a wad of cash where I could splash out on the best of everything, then I'd go, but I'd never save to go there when we could have 3 relaxing holidays for the same amount.

I was looking at the Butlins site before, it hasn't half changed hasn't it! It's looks very nice and the entertainment for youngsters looks fab! :)
