Butlins is great and I agree £1000 is a good deal. I'm going for the 4th time running this year and the reason for that is because it has everything we need as a family.

Abroad is all fine and dandy but it isnt suitable for everyone. Our family for one a holiday abraod would cause more hassle than butlins. Hubby hates the sun and I mean hates lol. My son wouldnt cope with all the travelling involved to get abroad, and frankly I would need a holiday to recover from the holiday abroad.

Butlins has great entertainment, the staff have always been great and friendly. Very good with my son who has special needs, and the camp is nice and clean with lots to do. So if I had £1000 to spend I would definently consider it a bargain during the summer hols.

We always go in oct and stay in a caravan for 4 days because it's cheaper and it suits us. Plus the caravan is very homely (good for my son) and has everything we need.

I think anyone with experience of staying at butlins would agree the op got a good deal especially when you consider how expensive it can be for meals out alone.

Not stayed in one but have seen them. Would I pay deluxe price. If I had the spare money I would because you are in a detached property with your own parking and it's close to everything.

I'd not say it overlooks the sea but it is in the seafront, the sea is over a wall. You might have to stand on a chair when you look out of the window.... ;)

At Minehead the Deluxe units are like caravans but you get your own decking area, patio furniture and parking space. Again I would if we had the money.

Thanks. I dont know how I haven't spotted them before:o They came up as an accomodation option online but there was no info so rang them and they said they were like beach huts with a full sea view. I think I might go and have a nosey next time I go:D

I think that is a GREAT price. I couldn't believe how expensive it is to holiday in England in a camp when I priced up holidays a couple of years ago. It is cheaper to go abroad but you really can't compare Butlins as an average campsite as it is standard that all others try to be. The Minehead camp has everything and as bluemonkey rightly says, it is a bargain. No where else will offer the same entertainment and food package. The only other place that could be similar would be Disney and I wonder how much that would cost!

Just the tickets - for 2 ad and 2 kids - are just shy of £1000 for 14 days use. Another £500 for the 2 Universal parks, Seaworld, Busch Garden and other non-Disney water parks.

If you walk along the railings that go alongside the front, go past the Skyline and they are there on the right. They are tucked away but on top of everything. We saw them because the kids were up early (6am) and we went for a walk along the seafront and saw them then. They are very easy to miss.

You might well see the top of the sea but not sure what you are going to see - maybe a few ferries out of Portsmouth or fishing boats. Nothing to get too excited about in the english Channel, LOL.

How do you upgrade? Do you phone and ask? We've book silver for whitsun at bognor. Couldn't afford anything better at the time :( Are the queues there worse now the new hotel is built. We went a couple of years ago before the 2nd hotel was started and managed to get seats for shows easily then, bit worried that we'll have to queue for ages now.

You can, yes. Or you can chance it and, when you get there, go to the Gold booking in desk and ask if they have anything spare.

if you look online and the units are there, then they have the accomodation to upgrade you. Ask to speak to the booking shop.

    Bognor Regis Resort direct line:
    0845 070 4770

However, if you chance waiting you can upgrade for £50 on the day - as I say though, we have only been able to do this once, the rest of the time they have been sold out when we go.

I am not sure the word 'great' was best applied to the answer to that question. :o

Did not see the question about shows. It has always been like this at busy times, the only 'famous' act we have seen in our time there is the bloke with kids off X-Factor (his wife had died) and there was no queue for him.

If you want to queue for an hour before it starts then you'll get a seat. A lot of people send one person in and then get them to save 15 seats for 3 hours until they arrive at 10pm, it really p*sses me off. This happened last time and they never arrived in the 2 hous that we was there. I have known it to be totally full and people still queueing though.

We are not fussed about the evening entertainment tbh, we'll try and get into Reds if Centre Stage is full, and there is the Skyline if you have little kids. The teens have their own place to go to.

Someone told me that the 9pm act is usually quieter though if that helps. I am not sure if they kick everyone out and let more people in, I've never asked. Go to that one instead. Or queue early with your chair and drink. However, I've got better thing to do than stand in a queue for 3 hours to see someone who didn't win X-Factor or BGT. Or Chicco. Chicco is always there these days. :rotfl:

Do they still do bingo beforehand? Or is that now old school? It was almost a religious experience! The silence:, I've thought people would get lynched if they talked!
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more
