  • Funny this should be bumped. Just back from our Big Weekend and we had an absolutely amazing time. Best bit was laughing at all the fancy dress costumes!! 2 people were dressed up as Pepperami's, LOL. And the best costume was a group of people dressed as crayons!! Did not drink myself but there was no fighting or arguments that I saw - however, lots of people on crutches after falling over, LOL. Would recommend it to everyone.

And we went to the silent disco which was on during the day.
  • I have just booked our summer holiday next week last week of the school summer holidays and we have paid 587 in silver accomodation self catering i think this is a bargain price compared to what we would pay for a caravan. We went exactly the same week this year and had a fantastic time the kids where never bored. My only moan is the prices of drinks etc., in the clubs

Did you know you can take soft drinks and crisps etc in the shows for the kids or you if you want. they do sometime search your bags so under no circumstances try and take alcohol in with you

Which big weekend did you go to blue_monkey? I might have met a "friend of Martin" and not known it lol:rotfl:
  • Don't mean to put a damper on the Butlins experience as have been there myself many times but tbh you can get an ALL INCLUSIVE holiday to Tenerife 2 adults 2 kids for around 900 quid so cheaper than OP's deal , know many don't like flying but for EVERYTHING including alcohol and snacks all in plus a kiddies club entertainment and pool you can't go wrong! :D

This was @ Easyjet holidays inc luggage and transfers!!

I think there is Quidco too which should cover the cc charges ;)

I'm probably gonna get lynched for this but we took alcohol in with us, we got the soft drink refillable containers from SkyLine which they refill with soft drinks for a couple quid, and could fit a whole big bottle of Smirnoff Ice or similar in and walked in drinking from them and nobody said a thing.
2013 Wins - Goodreads book, Greggs Sausage Roll, £1,000 Personal Shopping Experience, Golden Dog Bowl, Wedding Story book!!
Hoping after 3 miscarriages 2013 will be lucky and we'll get to keep our baby!

Skeggy - if you went there, let me know what you dressed up as.
  • I really hate it when people start activing as though they are travel agents!
If someone wants to go to butlins for £1000 thats good for them, get somthing better to do than upsetting people all good if your being nice but some comments have been abit mean!
Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)

So, deep breath stop ranting, I think that if they are happy for them to be off school because they 'look peaky' they should let them have time for holidays off too but set an maximum amount of days. Sitting at home watching CBBC because they have feigned illness is hardly constructive is it? My DS and DD have been sent home loads of times this year.

Our high school sends kids home too, they are really soft. My son is tiny and has big bambi eyes, so they fall for it because he looks 'forlorn'. Primary don't send them home unless there's actual vomit.

Eldest wanted a half day off (before a long half term) in order to catch a plane - school moaned and asked was it really necessary. I said his father is going to New York once in his lifetime, and is going at lunchtime whether the child is with him or not. They let him go reluctantly ... then when he came back they made him have 2 weeks off because he felt tired (it was may 09 when swine flu first hit NY), and sent him home for the slightest sniffle after that!

On the subject of Butlins ... I love it. We go on the Sun holidays either the weekend they break up or the one before they go back. One year my parents paid for us to go half board as my birthday present :D

I know you can go abroad for the price, but while it's nice to have pools and beaches in warm weather there's not enough to keep kids of different age groups occupied. My eldest said our last holiday abroad was boring! He doesn't enjoy beaches for more than a couple of hours, he was at that awkward teenage stage where history and scenery is 'lame', he moaned about it being too hot when we went for walks. At Butlins it's easier for large groups to split up for short periods, and the kids can do fencing and archery, laser tag etc.

Of course now he's matured a bit he is asking me to take him to Tuscany, but youngest is begging for DLP or Butlins :rotfl:
