Hi all, dodgy hugs to those who need em:grouphug:

Susiebear - i did the same thing last week with the alpens :( i'm shocked at the difference in calories they are!

Well first week of the 10 week challenge hasn't gone so well for me, been so busy and tired doing up the house that we've ended up having afew takeaway meals. Got weigh in tonight so fingers crossed i've at least stayed the same with amount of energy i must have used up decorating!!

Anyway big line drawn under last week.

MrsM - well done on the "Shredding" - Gillian's evil but I love her!! will be starting again with it myself in the near future!

New week - i've done a meal plan (mainly to make sure we use up some of the vast store cupboard and keep food costs down for the next few weeks) and we have only bits to do at the house so i'll have more time for cooking! I WILL do this 90% at least next week.

    So green day today

    B - apple, yogrt, alpen (0.5 HEB)
L - BNS canneloni made with quark, cheese (0.5 HEA)
    T - chicken curry, rice and puppadoms (HEB x 1.5, 6 syns)
    S - crisps (4.5) milk (0.5HEA)

Have a good day all x
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

I'm still here !!! Just been working solidly for the last 4 days, full days too so I've been completely cream crackered and too tired to post on here. Eating is fine, a few slip ups (e.g. not having HEB or having too many !)

Just a quickie for now, will catch up properly later:

    EE:

B - 28g shredded wheat bitesize (HEB), Milk (HEA)
L - Sweet potato, courgette, onion, mushrooms, tomato (all oven-roasted) 2 Sains Be Good sausages (1 syn) Activia creamy (2.5 syns)
D - Bacon and butternut squash risotto

    Snacks - Banana, grapes, pear

hiya i wonder if anyone can help that is currently doing the slimming world diet. I am thinking about joining and just want to check how it works. Am i right in thinking you can eat unlimited pasta? Is it the case that there is so many free foods that you can eat an unlimited amount of and then you have so many extra syns that you can use as you please for things that aren't free? sorry for all the questions

Hmm tuna, not really sure about that?

    Prawns would work well.
I was going to suggest that too - that prawns would be a better substitute for crab. Tinned tuna has quite a strong distinctive taste.

and I would add, if it tastes rank whatever you use, don't necessarily blame the substitution. I've never had a SW recipe turn out tasting as if its worth the effort and ingredients (but that may be just me ;)).

That kind of sums it up, but it does depend on what you personally consider to be "unlimited". I would say if you plan to eat a panful of pasta day in and day out that would be excessive and you wouldn't lose weight, but that wouldn't be normal anyway. It's all to do with HEALTHY eating. I'm going to put a link to the very first page of this thread where all is explained, but really you will get the best explanation by going along to a local class and letting the teacher answer your questions and getting the books to refer to. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3085422
    good luck, stick around.

Yep, that's pretty much it! Pasta, rice (dried in both cases), potato, meat with fat removed, most veg and ditto fruit all free, plus up to 15 syns a day. They add 'healthy extras' that you have to have to make sure you get sufficient calcium and fibre too.

It's easy once you get to grips with it, and SW make plenty of suggestions for meal ideas, but best of all, everyone on here is SO helpful, posting recipes, syn values, and LOADs of encouragement and laughs.

Go for it, even if you decide not to go to group.:j
  • Hi

Can anyone tell me the diff between easy extra plan and the red plan or the original plan? thanks, thinking of moving to the red plan but cant work out from my books what it entails!

thanks for getting back to me, i thought that was what it was but it sounds too good to be true - so if i had spaghetti with extra lean mince and just tomatoes, mushrooms, onions etc i wouldnt have to count it?

can you save up syns for the weekend or is it a case of if you dont eat them that day you lose them? thanks

    Hi

Can anyone tell me the diff between easy extra plan and the red plan or the original plan? thanks, thinking of moving to the red plan but cant work out from my books what it entails!

At the front of your book you have an orange page (superfree) - this is always free (and encouraged). You have a red page (meaty) - this is free on a red/original day. You have a green page (pastay) - this is free on a green day.

After the HEs you will see more green and red pages. When you're on a green day you can take the items on these green pages as HEBs; when you're on a red/original day you can take the items on these red pages as HEBs.

On these days you can have 1 or 2 HEAs and 2 HEBs per day, but you don't need to have the 1/3rd superfree. However you are still encouraged to eat the superfree.

Basically if you're on a green day you need to limit the meat, if you're on a red day you limit the pasta type stuff.
