Since you ask:o it's 25.5 syns for a bottle of red or dry white, so 8.5 for a large glass. Spirits with diet mixers is about half that per large drink. I'm sure sweet wines are more but I don't drink those.

OK, I'm thinking of joining my local class tonight, I have put a stone and a bit on since last Sept and it's getting me down an awful lot as all my clothes don't fit and I'm living in leggings!, I lost 3st following SW last year and did it on my own, but my eating is out of control at the moment and I think I need the group to give me a boost and keep me focussed

Nervous about going though as I haven't ever been to this group before!

Can anyone shed some light on Smash please - I went and bought some today for about the first time in 20 years!!!:o

    Typical!

By the way, someone told me that the answer to the problems following on from taking codeine etc as a painkiller is water, water, water, rather than increasing fibre. I have the same problem (TMI)!

    Good luck, weighers, commiserations STS's!

Welcome to Geeves and Milliemonster - any questions you may have, ask away, there's always someone around to help :)

Geeves, when you start to exercise, your muscles may hold extra water for a while to protect themselves from injury. This will wear off shortly but of course it will show on the scales in the meantime. Try to look at the way your clothes are fitting and don't worry too much about what the scales say.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Good luck to all Thursday weighers, well done to all u losers, my weight loss is so slow, its getting me down now :-(

I lost a pound last night, which I am grateful, but I hoped after 7 weeks Id have lost a stone at least, but only 10lbs boohoo. I am sticking to plan so well, not once have I mucked up, so I feeel I deserve to lose a bit more. My Mum is also following this with me, and she has syns she doesnt even count, doesnt exercise and has lost the same as me, so unfair!!!

Has anyone got any advice for me to speed things up a bit??? I want to get to my stone award for my birthday on 10 April, which I don't think is unreasonable, what can I do to push it along a bit HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP XXX

Do try to drink your quota of water every day (at least 2½ litres) it really does help.

Make sure that what should be weighed or measured accurately actually is (and not guessed).

Do you eat a lot of bread? If you do, try cutting it out completely for a week and see if it makes a difference. It's amazing how many people seem to be slightly intolerant of wheat without realising it.

Have a go at the Speed Food Soup (AKA Dynorod Soup). It's suitable for Green and EE days (not Red unfortunately) and does what it says in the title :rotfl:

Speed food Soup (syn free on Green and EE)

    1 can mixed bean salad
1 can green lentils (or handful of dried)
    2 cans chopped tomatoes
    1 can baked beans
    Handful of split lentils
    2 large leeks
    1 large onion
    4 medium carrots
    2 parsnips
1 each green, red and yellow peppers
    2 vegetable stock cubes
    Salt pepper
    Mixed herbs
Water (enough to cover all ingredients)
Chop all vegetables. Put them and everything else into a large pan, cover with water, bring to boil and simmer until vegetables are soft (about 30 mins). Once cooked, the soup can be left chunky or blended smooth.
    Freezes well and tastes great!

And finally, don't be impatient....this is a new lifestyle, not a quick fix. The longer it takes you to get to target, the more likely you are to keep up your good habits for ever :D

HI MAMAN, Well of course being a natural tightwad ( and not earning at the mo) I am using smart price instant mash at only 16p per bag. For thickening of sauces, amazingly I thnik its even cheaper than flour lol!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
