Lucy_Lastic wrote: »I guess that's a NO then?!Sorry, I missed your original post! I've seen comments in the past from people who have quite liked them but IMHO they're edible but a bit yakky!! Although I have only tried one recipe. The only time I would bother is if I needed to eat some scan bran for the dyno-rod effects! ATleast as a cake they are slightly more palatable. Oh and the flavour is ok, it's mainly the texture that's all wrong!!!
I've never eaten them but they turn up at tasting sessions every now and again. People who are desperate for cake say 'Oh wow and only half a syn for the whole cake' (I exaggerate but it's not much). Most people seem to think it would be more tasty to eat the wrapping paper the Scan Bran comes in.;)0 -
Welcome back Lynz
I have never tried any of the scan bran cakes but fron what I hear they are not very nice - maybe just try a receipe and give it a go.0 -
Haven't tried the scan bran cakes, but have tried the All Bran cake which was ok - a little 'bitty' though, tasted a bit like weetabix! ???
EE day for me today
B - 1/4 of a 6 egg omelette made with 4 rashers bacon, 2 big onions & sorry looking mushrooms
S - Banana & muller light
L - Chicken, bacon & cannelini bean 'stew' (was chucked in slow cooker with passata, onions, mushrooms, peppers)
S - Another 1/4 of omelette
D - Leftover Chilli & rice & broc & cauli
S - Hifi or Fibre plus (heb)
Milk (heb) in coffees
Had a little mishap yesterday, i had got Tuna steaks out of the freezer in the morning to have for dinner & when i went to marinate them - they looked half cooked! Really disappointed as they had been in freezer for while & was looking forward to them with some stir fried veg & noodles! Saving grace is that i didn't pay alot for them as they were whoopsied!
That is when i had to dig around the freezer for something to eat & came across some cooked extra lean mince so defrosted in micro & made a chilli (sort of - not got any kidney beans in!)
Belly dancing tonight - i hope - got a big meeting at 2 and i hope it will finish by 5 so i can travel & get parked in time!
Aim today is to drink lots of water (actually NAS marshmallow squash!)
Well done Losers - good luck those still left to WI!0 -
I will try a Scan Bran cake recipe and report back (don't hold your breath!). I rather suspected they may not be great, after all those Scan Bran are pretty dire.0

Am i the only one who doesn't mind them?0 -
Hi gang,
Not been on here for a couple of days - stress city in Ali's world
Hope you are all OK x
Good news from me today - 3 lbs off!
Could be attributed to the stress but I can confirm I have knuckled down this week and had some lovely pieces of fresh fish which have made me feel every so slim
Have a good day y'all0 -
Thank You Consultant for the nice shiny new thread
Smargies are onion bhajis made with smash! Fantastic little snack as it has 1/3 superfree!
Smargies
Soften some onions in micro (or pan)
Meanwhile make some smash (or could you mashed pots but would have to squeeze them dry!) but quite dry! and mix in lots of curry powder (to taste)
Mix smash & onions together (when cool, you don't want burnt fingers!) and put dollops on baking tray (the messier the better, nice crispy bits! but not to big or will fall apart when taking out of oven!) and spray with fry light
Bake in over until ready
Sorry for the lack of measurements etc. i normally chuck it all together & see how it goes!:rotfl:
Hope everyone is doing well, i had a hiccup again yesterday - why do i sabotage myself?
Thanks for clearing that upI have the recipe actually but didn't get the name, lol. They are really nice aren't they?
Don't worry about your hiccup - you do it because you're normal!! If we never made any mistakes we wouldn't realise how good we are the rest of the time :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
OMG, I put on 2.5lb !!!   How did that happen?????
Only thing I can think of is that I went to the gym today and I had a big lunch?? I'm also half way through my period so maybe that has something to do with it? I'm blinkin annoyed as I was soooooo restrained this weekend when we went away and was really careful when we had DH meal out.
I just hope it comes off, plus more, next week
It will if you stick to plan for the week
Going to the gym can mean that your muscles hold a little extra fluid for a while and having a big lunch before you go - well, it's going to still be in there for the weigh-in isn't it.......imaging getting weighed with the lunch on a plate in your hand at the scales :eek:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

NoI've had the cakes and they're not that bad. It depends how desperate you are for cake I suppose. And, lets not forget that Scan Bran really do help you lose weight :j (don't forget to drink plenty of water with them for the full effect).

We had a similar thing tonight at my SW class and the dish was pasta with (I think) some red pepper and onion and a tin of the ASDA chickpea dahl as well - it was absolutely gorgeous and I'm going to give it a try. I just hope I haven't forgotten an essential ingredient:rotfl:
Ooh yum! I have already been thinking about trying a pasta version, and maybe using couscous too. Good to hear the one you tried was nice.
I ate half of mine last night. It was soooooo nice! I have some for lunch today and can't wait!
It looks unappetising when pouring the mixture into the flan dish, but turns out very tasty. It's a new favourite0
