    Hi all!

Well I finally did it and joined my first group on Monday! :j I've joined online before but never been to group.

It's really focused me, which is why I did it, and I also picked up a new recipe idea as they were having a bit of a party!

I guess it won't be new to a lot of people but thought I'd mention it anyway. It's a chickpea dhal bake. The consulatant brought it in and it was lovely. Mine is in the oven right now!

You just cook up a packet of free savoury rice, curry flavour, mix in a tin of ASDA chickpea dahl, mix in 4 beaten eggs and throw it in a flan dish and bake till set.

It slices up lovely and makes a great snack or part of a packed luch etc..

    Hope this helps! :)

We had a similar thing tonight at my SW class and the dish was pasta with (I think) some red pepper and onion and a tin of the ASDA chickpea dahl as well - it was absolutely gorgeous and I'm going to give it a try. I just hope I haven't forgotten an essential ingredient:rotfl:

    Are mangoes and pieapple superspeed?

Just checked my book and the answer is No:( Pineapples are Speedy and mango is just superfree. As well as the melon and berries, grapefruit, guava, yellow plums and loads of things you virtually never see are superspeedy (babaco?boysenberries?kiwano? loquats?, pomelos?, tayberries and whitecurrants).

You can also gorge yourself on lemons and limes:rotfl:and eat goosberries and rhubarb but as it's illegal to eat stewed fruit I'm not sure that chomping on a raw gooseberry would be much fun!

Of course, lots of beans and peas are SS too but they wouldn't count as your one third superfree.

Boglesmum, I was wondering whether having a pasta salad at lunchtime might be a change? You can make a big bowl and it'll keep for a few days in the fridge. Or HM soup if you want something hot?

Morning all! Maman's post has just reminded me that I used to make a lovely pasta salad for my lunches but I haven't had it for aaaaaages!!! I must make some next week, I've been getting really bored of my lunches! I'm going EE today as I'm not quite sure what my lunch is! It's a freezer surprise....there's some mash in there and some tomato sauce with chickpeas in so it'll be my cod or chicken and chorizo stew, I make the same recipe but add fish or chicken depending on what we have in!! Ether way there won't be much of either as I tend to give OH the extra chicken then just throw the leftover sauce into a tub for me!!

Brekkie - Porridge (HEA&B) with banana and mixed berries
Lunch - freezer surprise (2 for teeny bit of chorizo), melon, pineapple, grapes, jelly (0.5)
Tea - HM canneloni type thing (4), jacket potato or SW chips, salad
    Snacks - boring old fruit!!

I'm going to pop to the market for some fruit at lunchtime, I hope they have a better choice than last week, they're usually really good but it was rubbish last week!!!

Last night at my SW class (lost a miserable half a pound by the way) there was talk of Scan Bran cakes. I picked up a leaflet that gave recipes for Ginger cake, Scan Bran Sticky Toffee Pudding, Carrot Cake and Chocolate Heaven - all using the dreaded Scan Bran.

Has anyone tried these recipes? Any comments good or bad?

    I guess that's a NO then?!

I know that feeling! Thats exactly how I felt last week and lost 1.5lb. WI tonight though is likely to be a different story! While I have been good for the majority of the week I also had a couple of slip ups over the weekend so a sts would be good.

    Food plan for the day:

    B - yog
    L - cous cous + roasted veg
    D - spaghetti bolognese (2)

snacks - apple, nana, kiwi, nectarine
syns - large glass of red after WI (8.5)

I normally eat more for breakfast, but been up since 6:eek: (2 hours earlier than normal) so wasn't hungry and had to almost force down even just a mullerlight.

Could be Lisa :) , im just not sure what i need to do for the best. I defo need to make sure i list everything i eat so i can get a bigger picture of whats happening in the week. Then see what happens next week.

I find the weekend the toughest to get through not slipping up on what i eat, planning to have a big roast dinner at the weekend that will be a nice treat for the weekend.

Sorry, I missed your original post! I've seen comments in the past from people who have quite liked them but IMHO they're edible but a bit yakky!! Although I have only tried one recipe. The only time I would bother is if I needed to eat some scan bran for the dyno-rod effects! ATleast as a cake they are slightly more palatable. Oh and the flavour is ok, it's mainly the texture that's all wrong!!!
