Whilst on the subject of meals, was out for dinner last night and picked Sweet potato patties for my main. Would like to make my own - any ideas ?

Just had a quick look - not knowing what was in yours I found this recipe.
    SWEET POTATO PATTIES
4 med. size sweet potatoes (cooked)
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. raisins
Mash sweet potatoes. Beat in egg and salt. Add flour. Mix in raisins. Drop mixture from a tablespoon on heated, greased frying pan. Brown slowly on both sides. Makes about 12 patties.

I suppose you could substitute instant mash for the flour which would dry the mixture and make it stick together better and leave out the raisins.

I did find several recipes which asked for extra sugar:eek: Why put sugar into something that is already sweet Dunno.gif

BTW - they were all from an American site;)

  • Its all the Ms isn't it - HUUUUGE well done to Majac & Magnolia, and MrsM I'm rooting for your 2.5 lbs this week :j

My cauliflour thingy was lovely, but It probs wasn't to everyone's tastes, I'd be too embarrassed to serve it to anyone else, good job I'm single* :D

*oh, and on that subject, do you remember HIM wot I was talking about back at Christmas? He's been back in touch so I'm all :D !!! Clearly haven't quite got it into my head that he's a good friend and too good to risk anything else then like I thought :lovethoug :o. Still, a girl can always dream! ;)

Its a glorious day here, and I'm miffed because I've GOT to do college work  but I'll make it outside in a bit to go and show a friend how to massage her horse. :T Will also make sure I have a stroll at some point, got to have a walk in the sunshine, its good for you ;)

Its funny how losing weight spurs me on, and gaining also self perpetuates for me. I'm so glad I fluked a big loss last week, because I'm back on track with my eating now. Had I not have done, I'd have still been in a "cheating" mindset. Go figure, I used to be the opposite and a loss spurred me on but a gain made me even MORE determined to do well the following week!

Well done all the losers especially Mags with a mahooosive -5lbs. Those were the days when I had losses that big, oh hang on I NEVER had a loss THAT big. My biggest loss was 4lb and only ever did that twice, my 1st week [the 1st time round] and one week earlier this year. I am among the losers this week though with -1.5lb  can't imagine how that happened what with all the off plan stuff I've eaten but then looking back at how much time I've been in the loo [sorry tmi :o] this week ...........ahem. I thought I'd get away with STS again as sneaky peak yesterday said that.

I fully expect a gain next week as meals are all up in the air, I am making sure I have my rescue remedy handy on Tuesday/Wednesday for the interviews as well as immodium :rotfl:. Will be so glad when this is all over :o.

Anyway enough waffle from me, enjoy your Sunday peeps & good luck with the weight loss :A
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Out of interest, what is a typical day's menu for you then? I'm adopting your syn curfew :j although I have always used syns for my main meals so will allow odd syns for this but chocolate syns - not till after 8pm ! - would be interested to see what other members have for their (synfree) meals.

Whilst on the subject of meals, was out for dinner last night and picked Sweet potato patties for my main. Would like to make my own - any ideas ?

    Quorn or mince chilli bolognaise
Chicken salads ( hot or cold) with a yog based dressing
Lean beef mince kebabs with salad and HEB pitta ( im going to try to make this this week as well I think)

HM mexican meatballs with spicy tomato sauce packed with veg- carrots peppers onion, spring onion etc, plus a crunchy salad and rice as well and refried beans ( sometimes have a 2.5 syn taco shell with this or some WW t chips, shared with oh = 2 syn)
roast dinner I have made syn free gravy and its pretty good- better with beef than chicken I think..
pasta and sauce for a quick snacky meal at home ( the free ones)
HM superfree soups and possibly HEB bread
HM pasta sauces crammed with veg
Spinach & chickpea curry, this week Ill do the spinach and cottage cheese cannelloni

A usual day ( at work) will look like:
Breakfast fruit yoghurt ( blueberries bananas pineapple etc) with muller or WW yog
    Snacks am- alpen lite
Lunch - half an ainsley couscous (0.5 syn)with loads of ham/ chicken chopped veggies ( carrot/onions/ peppers/ radish/ lettuce/rocket etc), sometimes yog dressing sometimes FF cottage cheese Fruit eg strawbs blueberries- sometimes a 4 syn bag of crisps like shapers or WW am going to try savory trice salad this week too
Prior to diner- more fruit ;)

Treat: 4 finger kitkat (11) or a dime bar (7) or penguin wafer etc.

Most of my syns go on pure treats :D:beer:

Morning all, I bought a very large punnet of mushrooms yesterday at a good price ... anyone got a mushroom soup recipe for me to try? Or is it a case of chucking them in a saucepan with stock and lots of pepper? Not quite sure with mushrooms ...:o

Ohhhh deary me, Dime Bars are only 7 syns??? Yikes, I shall have to stay away from the shops, they're my favourite

Ali got this from the mumsnet site, hope it helps :

    Mushroom Soup
    Punnet of mushrooms
    2 onions
    1 clove of garlic
    Stock cube (1 syn)
    2 dried chillies
    Water
    Fresh milled pepper
    Fry light

    Method:

Sweat onion and garlic in frylight for about 2 minutes, add in chillies and mix for about 30 secs, add mushrooms and mix then add water, stock and pepper. Simmer for about an hour then liquidise till smooth.

If you dont like an ingredient then dont add it and likewise if you want something else in add it.

This soup is good with sweetcorn for green and pasta to make it really filling.
