Good afternoon all
Does anyone mind if I join in?? Re-joined SW a week ago. Group was yesterday and I lost 4.5lbs!:T So feeling energised and compelled to carry on. Looking forward to reading peoples menus etc.

Although(!) syns online says that an average boiled rice portion is 300g and 20 syns vs an average pilau rice portion being 180g and only 14 syns on red. Is that really an average portion of boiled rice?? Would I be better getting the boiled rice and only eating half, or getting the pilau which should be a smaller portion?
If you're doing the Green plan, the boiled rice would be syn-free :jI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I'm off out in a bit (job interview ) so I'm just sitting with a cuppa and a HiFi bar having a bit of 'chill' time to gather my thoughts. It's quite strange how just a few lbs lost has made such a difference to my confidence levels. For once, I'm attending an interview and I don't feel fat and frumpy :j.
Will have to go shopping again soon for some more fruit/veg, need a mortage to do SW sometimes I think ! :rotfl:
This is so true. It's amazing how losing just a few pounds gives you the confidence to do things you'd thought you'd never be able to do
If you can go shopping as soon as the shops open or just before they shut you may well find lots of bargains as stuff is reduced for a quick sale.....very MSE :rotfl:Miss_Piggy wrote: »Good afternoon all

Welcome to the thread Miss P - keep postingI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Afternoon all...
Another green day for me :-
Breakfast - Hifi bar (B choice)
Lunch - 2 quorn sausages, baked beans, little bit of scrambled egg, satsuma, banana
Tea - not sure yet but it'll have to be syn free as I'm having a big glass of wine;)
Syns - glass of wine (about 10 syns, big glass!)
On the positive side, someone in work asked if I'd lost weight:j
Have almost finished the meal plan and shopping list for tomorrow - need to dream up a few new meals to stop me getting bored with the diet.0 -
Oooh thanks for that
I feel a little better now, just got to keep the naughty fairies out of the suitcase and stock up on willpower and I should be ok then
Im also thinking If I go minimal syn from thus to sun then I can have a few in reserve (sound like a plan??)
I think that's an excellent idea Dizzy. I know it's not strictly following the plan properly but I always save my syns for weekends and meals out 'cos I find it relatively easy to eat almost totally syn free at home.
:wave:MissP and congratulations on your first week's weightloss.
Hope the interview went well majjak, you're so right about losing weight increasing confidence.
Welshwoofer, it's also a great feeling when someone notices you've lost weight. The same thing happened to me today. I think lots of friends haven't said anything because it implies I was fat before!:rotfl:
I haven't told anyone (except DH, peeps on here and my group) that I'm doing SW. Anyone else who asks I've just mumbled something about healthy eating plan. I have a close friend I'm going to tell when we're on our own as she desperately needs to lose some weight but I've only seen her in company recently.
The compliments also help motivate me to stay on-plan as does wandering around clothes shops knowing I don't need to look at big sizes any more. I'm not planning to buy until I've lost a bit more but I may have to as the things that fit are getting fewer and fewer.:D0 -
Can anyone advise me about eating beetroot? I have been eating loads - like 3 times a day lol and the last time was this morning when I had 4 baby beets. I decided to give it a rest cos' it was giving me a bit of acid but I also noticed some other side effects when I went to the loo (sorry). Am I right not to have a massive panic cos my pee was red (it also gave me a bit of an upset tummy which was also red, sorry if that is too much info)? I wouldn't have thought it would have taken from this morning to now to go through my system?
Am a bit worried0 -

I've had the same problem and it's definitely the beetroot. Stop worrying! The coloured wee won't hurt but if it's giving you acid indigestion (probably the vinegar if it's pickled beetroot you're eating) then you need to ease off.0 -

THANK YOU!!! To be honest I was totally freaking out lol! Even though I suspected it was the beets, I was panicing it was something much worse.
Phew, can go and relax now0 -

Yeh I know, but as the curry is going to be meat heavy I thought I would look into the syns on red, and was surprised that the average potion of boiled rice at an indian is almost double the weight of the pilau rice!
I don't think an indian would serve 300g of boiled rice in the restaurant, so I'm actually better off having a red day and syning the boiled rice (prob around 150-200g) at 10-13 syns.0 -

Why not have an EE day then you can your boiled rice and meat curry and only need to syn the curry which shouldn't be too many syns.
