Hi guys. I've finally accepted low carb eating isn't much use when I'm exercising simply because I feel so weak and don't have much energy, so I'm looking around for a new eating regime. Never tried SW before and if I'm honest, I'm really not up for the group sessions where you all take a turn at talking about what you've done etc. (Too much like pretending to be a tree in group drama classes at school for my liking
)
So, I'm thinking about the online side. Just been browsing the site and found out it's £80 for Gold membership for 3 months only.
I've got a fair bit to lose so it would be worth it if it worked but I'd appreciate opinions from anyone who does this online only? £80 makes for an expensive mistake if it's not all that great.
Any thoughts?
Hi Alias:) I'm a low carb defector too;)
SW is sooooooo much better. As someone else said, join a group for one session, get your books and then don't go back.
SW is easy once you get your head round it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Green day for moi:):)
Using 1/2 an A for milk in coffee tea.
Breakfast - coffee, 2 x weetabix(B), yoghurt, nana
Lunch - WM roll(B) 28g cheese(1/2 an A and 1 syn), pickle(0.5), peppers, apple, yoghurt
Snack - 2 dark choc digestives(8:eek:) so not worth it.
Dinner will be quorn chilli and rice with 42g cheese(A)
Bought some nice strawberries so will treat myself to my usual evening snack of strawberries, vanilla activia and 2 crushed meringues(5)
Grand total of 2A/2B and 14.5 syns:)The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Now that the sun is shining and salad season much closer, does anyone have any recommendations for syn free salad dressings? I've been using Lidl's best and it's OK but are any other brands worth a try? or any recipes?
I just use a splash of balsamic vinegar on my salad, it is free and tastes fab.
Low fat salad dressings are pretty rank i find. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

 Yay! Hi you!
Well since my last post, I spoke to someone who joined up again. She says it's rubbish. :rotfl:
Not the actual diet I hasten to add, just the class and the woman who runs it. She says there's quite a bit of grumbling about it going on and most feel it's a waste of money. The group session consists of her asking everyone to state what the took off/put on and why. And that's pretty much it.
My friend reckoned she had no clue about what she was doing for about 3 weeks, she didn't understand what she could eat etc and the woman was no help whatsoever. Half the time she wasn't even there and a class member took in the money and they all weighed themselves.Perhaps not the most efficient class then.
She suggests I get the books and just pick folks brains which is fine by me.
Will you all take pity on me and answer a million and one questions once I get the books? :rotfl:
I'm off to ebay now, anything I should look for specifically? Or are the SW books just a standard?Herman - MP for all!0 -

Course we will, there is also a brilliant site called minimins that has tons of info on it about SW.

The green book on the top left is the food optimising book and is probably the most helpful one i have. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Hi, I like you am contemplating starting Slimming World, I have done it in the passed but have put all my weight back on so I think now is the right time for me to start again.
From what I have seen of the books on Ebay they are very expensive, it would be far cheaper to go along to a meeting which I believe at the moment is half price membership and the weekly fee to pay (I think that works out at around £10 all together) you get the books that explain the diet and you can buy some extras too if you wanted and just dont go back and pop on here. Thats what I intend to do.
We could be buddys if you like and help each other along the way?
I have around 2 1/2 stone to lose, how about you?
Wishing you all the best

Do I have to say it out loud?:rotfl:
Double your figure and then you're in the right ball park for me.
I am going to the gym 3 times a week as well now though. *tries to make it sound a whole lot better*
I think the local class is tonight and there's no way I'll be organised for that at such short notice. *shame*
I suspect you are right about ebay being more expensive.
When are you planning on starting jessie?Herman - MP for all!0 -

I suppose 2 1/2 stones is wishful thinking really, I need to lose nearer 3 1/2!! My body is screaming at me, everything aches and my asthma has got worse so I really need to do something about it but I am a hopeless yo yo dieter.
Why dont you go tonight and get your books you dont even have to stay for the meeting, although the consultant would usually run through the diet with you if you stayed, but everthing you need to know is in the books. Once you have your books we can both start together if you like?0 -
Well done everyone on your wonderful losses! Especially MrsM! Just WOW!
I'm pretty much back on track now but I'm out tomorrow. My Dad is coming up from Cornwall and taking me out to a gig (that he wants to go to, not me lol) he's going to take me out for dinner.
I also had pancakes this evening, but I've saved a few syns over the weekend and not had any others today so I should be ok.
I don't normally give anything up for lent, but I think it's an ideal time for me to give up chocolate.
I will be joining you with this one, I have given up chocolate for Lent every year since I was about 12. I just wish I had will power like it for the rest of the year!Currently takling Barclaycard - £67/£350Debt free date October 2014:jDoing it for my girlies!!:j38lbs lost in 2011SW for May 8lb/7lb0 -
Afternoon all
Last night as predicted, I jumped off the tank temporarily to enjoy cocktail and spring rolls! Was a bit too greasy for me, but hell it was ok.
Anyway back on the tankwaggon today:
Have had
bowl of strawbs & a splash of yog
2 x alpen lites & diet coke
Muller and blueberries
Lunch: 3 flat mushrooms, half a tin of spahetti and 2 bits of bacon ( not much left once fat removed
Packet of shapers spirals (?4?)
Just had a bit more yog with blueberries and a cuppa with sweeteners
Dinner is Spicy cajun blackened chicken with salad and maybe a jacket pot.
I dont care for pancakes- think they are realy boring- so I do not feel in any way aggreieved. I bet oh would want them, I will have a kitkatand im sure more of my favourite blueberries
feeling v positive today as I am looking quite a bit slimmer, go me! I hope that I achieve a small loss this week. I dont have loads to lose (!) 9 stone 1 is perfect for me I think- so have 5lbs to lose till then. I know again ill struggle to maintain but I shall have to stick on the tank for that, and you guys can help me!
Well done to you losers and chin up to those struggling today xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
