Well Ive made my experimental spicy fish kebabs for the 2nd time today......(and as a FISH HATER I can recommend them
:rotfl:)
Ive put the recipe on the recipe thread if anyone is interested
I think you're going to have to change the description of yourself as a 'fish-hater' since you've found a couple of interesting ways to have it and, what's more important, enjoy it.
I always think fish can be boring (I love it by the way) but it's so quick to cook and so versatile that with a bit of ingenuity (and plenty of money) you could eat a different fishy meal every day
PS: Thanks for the recipeI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
This reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask: when you post a menu plan on here, do most of you just plan it for yourselves? I was curious whether you managed to come up with meal plans that suit the whole family?
Personally, DH and I have the same breakfast with a little tweaking (NAS for me, juice for him: he has spread and sugar, I don't: I have my own bread he has Burgen). For lunch we do our own thing and then we have the same supper (although DH may have sauce or mustard or mango chutney and I don't).
How is it for you?;)
It's much easier to stick to plan if you're not having to faff about making different meals for other members of the family. Remember too, that Food Optimising is simply healthy eating and so the rest of the family should benefit from eating the same as you
When I first started SW I needed to lose about 4 stone and DH didn't feel he needed to lose anything (pity there's no smiley for a cocked eyebrow, lol). He ate the same as me, more or less, and in the time it took me to lose just over 4 stone, he lost just under 5  It did his dodgy knees the world of good and he's kept almost all of it off ever since.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Also, before everyone rushes to make the scan bran bits that consultant put on the recipe thread, please bear in mind that scan bran are 1 syn per slice, not 0.5syn so the recipes may change slightly, although you can still have 5 for a HEB!
Thanks for this nessie, I clean forgot to change the recipes syn count - will go back to the thread and do it now.
Re self-sabotage (for you and Flat Eric)....have you thought about asking your Consultant for an SAS log? They can be very illuminating though, of course, you have to be very honest in filling them in. I have reprinted a sheet from SW with a bit of an explanation - I hope it helps:-
Although this may sound like a ridiculous concept - after all we all want to lose weight - self-sabotage can be very subtle and is usually done at a subconscious level: licking the children's chocolate mousse lid; pinching a chip or two without even thinking about it. I'm an expert at getting a mountain of bran flakes on my weighing scale without the needle noticing!
Another way of sabotaging our plans is by putting ourselves under appalling pressure without even realising it. We put ourselves in a really tight corset by being terribly strict and not allowing any flexibility. Our life becomes dominated by our diet (a nightmare scenario), so that eventually we fling off the corset, abandon the plan, stop counting Syns and blow it all together for days or sometimes weeks on end. We lose our confidence to slim, and find it nearly impossible to get back on track.
Do any of these scenarios sound familiar? Working with an SAS log will help you work out your danger zones and learn how to protect yourself for the future. Remember, these sheets are for your eyes only!
Because our unconscious self-sabotage processes are exactly that - below our consciousness, out of our awareness - it leaves us little chance of protecting ourselves when danger arises. So the first step is to bring them into our consciousness - then we can make plans to protect ourselves from them.
The SAS log is an incredibly powerful tool that is rapidly going to help you discover your danger areas during the day, and where you might be subconsciously sabotaging your weight loss. Before describing how to use the SAS log, there are a few key points that will help you during your voyage of discovery:- You'll need to be honest. Be reassured that nobody will ever need to see your SAS log, there's no one that you have to impress with the information. It is useful to you and you alone.
- Although completing the SAS log doesn't need to be a lengthy process, it's important to your success that you consider each point, and not rush.
- Be committed to your decisions. This will be relatively easy because they will be your decisions and not someone else's.
- Be non-judgemental when you're using the log. Be fascinated by your findings and never critical of yourself.

Two questions please - can anyone recommend a DVD that isn't too drastic, I have limited strength at the moment, and, does anyone have experience of doing SW after gastric bypass surgery, which means I only eat small amounts at a time?
Don't they give you a meal plan to follow after bariatric surgery? I don't know much about it, but I would have thought they'd be the experts on what you should be eating for health. Can you eat enough in a day to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs or do you have to take a supplement?
Food Optimising is just healthy eating and there's no reason you shouldn't split up your food into half a dozen snack-size meals instead of three bigger ones, if you can manage 5 or 6 snacks a day.
Good luckI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

evening all! I've had a busy evening with a visit to the supermarket followed by a couple of hours in the kitchen making yummy things for tea. We've just had a lovely fruit salad of strawberries, green grapes, red grapes and mango, it looked so pretty and summery!
I've also rustled up a SW quiche filled with onion, mushrooms, peppers, sweetcorn and tomatoes. There's 4 big portions so that's this week's lunches sorted!! I also have the ingredients to make a minestrone soup, I think the recipe I have came from minims or whatever its called!!! I never usually follow recipes for soup but the end result is generally a bit disappointing so I'm giving it a go with a recipe this time!0 -
Well done everyone on your wonderful losses! Especially MrsM! Just WOW!
I'm pretty much back on track now but I'm out tomorrow. My Dad is coming up from Cornwall and taking me out to a gig (that he wants to go to, not me lol) he's going to take me out for dinner.
I also had pancakes this evening, but I've saved a few syns over the weekend and not had any others today so I should be ok.
I don't normally give anything up for lent, but I think it's an ideal time for me to give up chocolate.0 -
