Just out of interest, does anyone know why Wetherspoons 10oz rib eye steak with jacket potato, tomato and peas is 47 syns please? One of the ladies in our group had it as a "safe" eating out option before checking syns and was horrified when she got home. A 10oz rib eye with chips and the same veg is only 28.5 syns.... I won't ever be having the 5 bean chilli nachos from there either - 70 syns

Our consultant said that it was partly due to them deep frying the jacket spuds to warm them up again (or something like that).

My day has been OK so far - been very busy though and not enough time to eat properly - I had the food with me but didn't get to eat it - pesky kids! (I'm a science teacher).

Breakfast - Weetabix Oaty bar (B choice)
    Mid Morning - banana
Lunch - egg sandwich (B choice and 1 syn mayo) - took fruit but had no chance to scoff
Tea - big bowl of pasta and pesto (3 syns) with parmesan on top to use it up (A choice)

    That's ...
    2 B choices
    1 A choice
    4 syns so far

I'm sure the syns will change later on!

The Shred DVD finally arrived today so will try to start it tomorrow if not Friday - looking forward to "feeling the burn!":rotfl::rotfl:

Seabrook crisps are quite high in syns, my old book has them at 9 syns for a 31.8g bag or 8.5 syns for unsalted ones. They may have changed in newer books.

How much are nestle breakaway biscuits? They seem smaller than they used to be. They say 99 cals on the package and in my book are 21.5g 5.5 syns [hoping for less but bet they're same].

    Forgot to post yesterdays food, so;
    B - weetabix milk [1/2 a] coffee
L - cous cous fritta, salad [spinach, toms, cue, s/onions, beetroot, celery], cheese [a], beans, s/cream [1]
T - sw chips, cous cous fritta with cheese [1/2 a] egg, spag hoops, onions, mushrooms, bbq sauce [1]
Snacks - pineapple, melon, onken, meringue [2.5], breakaway [5.5], fibre plus
    Syns - 10

    Food today:
    B - weetabix milk [1/2 a] coffee
L - cous cous fritta, salad [as above], cheese [a], beans, s/cream [1]
    T - jacket pot, spaggy hoops, cheese [1/2 a + b], onions, toms, bbq sauce [1]
Snacks - pineapple, melon, activia, meringue [2.5], bowl of pasta/bbq sauce [1] that I did for lunch and forgot to have so had mid afternoon for snack
Syns - 5.5 but may have a breakaway for 5.5 later so could be 11
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

That is a urban myth - they do not deep fry the jackets or inject them with anything. :)

I make a nice potato type salad but I add celery, spring onion & red peppers to it. I make the dressing with ff fromage frais mixed with a bit of mustard powder (and salt/black pepper to taste)

This waiting until your hungry to eat thing. You have eaten some breakfast today havent you hun? :o

No I hadn't - I know, big smacked wrist, but I was getting exasperated with not feeling hungry but eating because I thought I should be by now. As it turns out, I was hungry half an hour later so ate! ;)

That is ridiculous. I wonder if that cut of steak has fat? Even so...

I have worked in similar places in the past and the jacket spuds were supplied pre-cooked and packaged in oil, ready to microwave, so maybe that's why? I know when I worked in the wetherspoons chain as much of the food as possible was microwavable. They used to cook the steaks on a grill, so that wouldn't havwe added any fat.
