  • hi all

well my hubby weighed himself before and it looks like hes put weight back on!!.. he has been really good since we both started and i dont want him to get disheartened and start eating like before again..
we mainly do green days with red days over the weekend .. he has been eating poached eggs on two pieces of wholemeal toast and tinned toms for breakfast. jacket pot with beans and salad for lunch and then for tea we have been eating things like stir fry, qourn spag boll, sw chips and beans, pasta with chicken, hes drinking up to 2 litres of water a day and eating a stack of frut on a daily basis. so just wondered if there was any tips you could give us or maybe point out whats missing in his diet?? !!

I've done SW in the past but not for years now. I've lost some weight lately without particularly trying to but it's very sporadic (lose 4 lbs and put two or three back on with a couple of weeks of non-stop-eating). So I'm thinking that I might try to get along to a group tonight, even though there aren't any very local and I work 30 miles away so might need to get to different Thursday ones if I'm home late. Does anyone else weigh in at different groups sometimes and does it feel at all awkward? Thanks for reading!

Hey ho! Thanks for your reassuring replies folks! After all that I spotted a Paul Mckenna 'I can make you thin' book in a charity shop today for only 30p (albeit without the CD!) and with the day being pretty hectic I took that as a sign from on high that maybe I need to give my will power one last chance. Even though I'll miss the membership offer if I start next week I figure I'll still be better off than if I started this week, give or take the 30pence book!

I suspect I'll be back this time next week though!

    Hello folks,

Lynz and Dizzy - Thank you both so much for your kind words. I think you are right and that I really have not ate enough for ages now. I am going to try to up my free foods. I usually do red and green days cos I started on them and can't really get my head around extra easy. I have worked today and really couldn't concentrate (which is not good in my job) - mental health support. It's quite funny really - I'm there supporting the mentally ill (which I thoroughly enjoy) but I really need some support myself for the weight thing!!!! I have made the mexican bake from out of the new magazine today and it's absolutely lovely, really easy and very tasty and also very cheap. I am going to have it for tea with a chicken portion as a healthy extra B.

I will also make a batch of dynorod soup and hopefully next week will be a better result. I need 9lb off now to get back within target range. I'm sorry to let the 10 week challenge people down.

Thanks again. I love this thread - I get as much support from here as I do from going to the group (although I love the group as well), it's like meeting a group of friends on a weekly basis.

NOTE TO NEWBIES: Please don't read my post and be disheartened in any way. It's just a blip, I lost 3 stone in 10 months in 2008 and have kept most of it off. Slimming World WORKS !!!!!!

Sorry to go on (I feel better now!)

    xxxx
Hi, would you mind putting up the recipe for mexican bake please, sounds really yummy and appealing if its simple to make, thank you

Well I've had a mixed day. I lost 1.5lbs and got to target which I am so happy about!!!

On the flip side my Gran got sectioned today and is in hospital as she can't (won't) look after herself and OH's Grandad has a brain tumour so will be having brain surgery. I'm being very selfish but I'm upset that no-one feels like they can be happy at my achievement.

Hi all, well I weighed in tonight and PUT ON 1lb. Really fed up cos I have been trying really hard this week. I think I'm not eating enough (still living in the bedroom while kitchen is being finished, not long now I hope!).

I'm trying not to get too depressed over it (not easy).

Well done to all the losers and welcome to all the newbies. xx

Ha I forgot I am not the only kitchenless one. Managed fine so far (I mostly use the microwave to cook stuff anyway so no difference) until today when the floor has been tiled, and he had to lay a thick layer of adhesive in parts to level the floor so I cannot go in there for TWO DAYS. I thought it was just overnight tonight! Ate out at the local pub (hmm tasty but synful, my choice!) and then popped to Spar for a big bunch of bananas (£1), a huge bottle of sparkling water and a muller light to see me thru tonight and breakfast! It's like camping. Meanwhile the cat has plodded through the unset adhesive and it has now set on his paw and he is NOT KEEN on the soak in warm water recommended by kitchen man "it should soon come off". Ha ha.

Hey lil Me, well done on getting to target, that is fantastic!!!! and I am sure your family are very happy for you, but I have found on the whole that extended family esp those who have never had weight issues just don't ever really grasp what it means to you to reach your goal anyway, mine never even ask how I am doing, even when I got to target in the past, but i don't care, I'm doing this for me and noone else.

My WI tonight, only lost half a pound, a bit gutted I have narrowly missed my stone award but I can't complain at losing so much in 3 weeks! it had to start slowing down sometime

    Hi folks :)
Also, what do you add to your chilli? I've added garlic, cumin, ground coriander, paprika, tinned toms, chopped chilli and salt and pepper to the mince and done it in the slow cooker - but it tastes as if it's lacking something. It's not very 'rich' if you know what I mean. Was going to add tom puree but didn't have any.

In the end I added a couple of tablespoons of gravy granules and it made all the difference! Yum. :)
Or I was going to suggest boiling it in the microwave for a few minutes to reduce it a bit and bring out the flavour - adding more chilli powder - stirring in a spoonful of sweetener.

    Anna ...

Pudding what about a lovely fruit salad :D or thepretty-much-syn-free roulade? Or baked rice pudding? http://www.tiana-coconut.com/rice_pudding.htm might be nice, im sure there would be some variations on this. Otherwise frozen mullers :D all round
    - You could tip enough muller-lites into a bowl, put in freezer, remove and stir every half hour for a couple of hours and you will have free ice cream. A bit of fruit or meringue on the side and there you are!

    evening all.
I do feel quite bloated, although there's no reason why that should be.

I'm still struggling a bit with the evenings and trying to avoid the temptation to nibble. Am even thinking of resorting to doing the ironing!!!
The bloating MAY be the bread if you've been eating none, or less, lately. And why can't you nibble in the evenings? I nibble and munch all evening long, that's what syns and fruit are for, and hebs if you save them and want a hifi bar or similar! Frozen muller lites (as above but don't bother decanting or stirring if it's just for you to nibble, and freeze for 1.5 hrs) are delicious in the evening in my biased opinion :D Get tucking in, don't deny yourself
