Who says this nessie? I'm not suprised you're angry. If you were paid enough as a 'professional' then presumably you wouldn't be needing extra work??? I'm so pleased to hear about your brother, there's so much unemployment among young people these days. I must stop or I'll be up on my political soapbox for the rest of the day...

It was strange, regional manager said i could do the work but then my line manager said it wasn't professional for me to clean the office but i could get a bar maid job!?!?!?! I am a 'professional' but a trainee 'professional' but not for longer as i moaned enough & it is being changed!

It was really annoying when he said it and said it was beneath me - so i called him a snob! :rotfl: but he took it well & i have told him where i stand

IMO i don't get paid to do a 'professional' job but there you go!

It is really good about my brother - i am so pleased for him

    HI everyone

Bit of a lurker here, i read this thread everyday and ive had loads of ideas, been doing sw for a year now, and ive lost just over 3 1/2 stone. Its really slowed down at the mo but tried my first ever week of success express and to my amazement i lost 2 1/2 pound last, this is a huge amount for me, i always usually loose 1/2 or 1 so i am very pleased at the min.

Im only 7 pounds from target so i think i need to fine tune everything for the last few pounds and take forward what i learnt this week, mainly upping my superfree and trying to snack on either superfree or syns rather than free food. I can easily demolish a packet of ham, a couple of mullers and pasta and think to myself, hey its free. I found i could do this at the beginning but now im getting to the end it seems to be really slowing me down xx

hmm to be fair they are absolutely not in any position to tell you what you can and cannot do in your spare time! If you have a trade union, you might want to check it, or quickly call acas

If you need the money its not for them to tell you what you cannot do unless eg you are working for a competitor and there is a real business case for you not being allowed.

Can i ask how long it's took you to lose 3 stone? It's probably how much I need to lose and i figured if i lose a pound a week then it'll be Xmas before i get anywhere close. :(

Not nessie, but I had 3 stone to lose (and 1lb to round it) and it's taken me almost a year. This week will be my 50th week and I've lost 2st 13.5lbs so far. I have 1.5lbs to target which I want to get before the 21st April. Average of 0.84 lbs a week.

The time it takes you will be influenced by your starting weight. If losing 3st takes you to the top end of your healthy BMI then it won't take you as long as if it takes you to the bottom end of healthy BMI.

It took me 6 weeks to lose my first stone, 18 weeks (2 week holiday) to lose the second stone, so far it's around 25 weeks (3 week holiday and Christmas) to lose the last stone. The scenic route haha.

    Thanks for your concern lynzpower

I actually work for a civil engineering company and work on site. the cleaning job was to clean the site office i am currently working in. So my company would be paying me overtime to clean - they do not believe it is economical to pay my overtime rate for a cleaner! (think my rate would be approx £9 an hour compared to approx £5-6 an hour!)

I don't really need the money as i volunteered to do it a couple of hours before i found out i had a pay rise:eek:. And to be honest it was going to kill me - leaving the house at 5am and getting home at 6pm for an extra £18 a day (before tax!) is not worth it! :rotfl:

If i get desperate i will get a summer job doing something!

I think i have enough on my plate working 4 days a week, Uni 1 day a week (leave home at 6am, get home at 8.30pm), taking care of house, my animals, trying to lose weight, trying to fit in exercise and now i have a miserable DH who is trying to give up the fags! :rotfl:

    hi nessie,

I was in a very similar position to you a few years ago. I worked for a construction company on site, as site secretary, and my boss asked me if I wanted to clean the cabins before work for extra cash to save him looking to hire a cleaner. I was going to take him up on the offer, but my Mum made me think twice about it. She said I would probably get other staff making jokes all the time about things being dirty, or areas I had missed cleaning etc. I think more so as it was just men on site who I worked with in the cabins, and there was a lot of banter in there, so I kind of knew what she was saying. They were the kind of fella's to chuck crap all over the floor and say "oh its ok Sue can clean that up". And I knew stuff like that would start to wear me down in the end, so I took her advice and didn't take the xtra work. I think it was for the best. I don't know what the people are like who work with you, but if they are mostly men, I bet you would have ended up with the same kind of banter and by the sounds of your busy schedule, You definately don't have the time!!!!:D

I'm really bored and just want to eat at the moment. I'm trying to think of something to distract me!

    having an EE day today;
    B - 28g bran flakes (HEB) & 125ml ss milk (1/2 HEA)
L - Co-op chicken pasta salad (3) melon and pineapple pot.
Snacks - 2 slices of ham, 3 crab sticks & 2 pickled onions.
T - Having 2 tesco light choices cumberland sausages (2)
with mash, veg - carrots, broccoli and pea's with gravy (around 2 syns worth, as I lurrrve thicker than thick gravy)
Evening - I'm sure i'll have a vanilla mullerlight with a handful of strawberries mixed in after tea
Then will have a ryvita (rest of cereal HEB) maybe syn some more, with a side of carrot sticks, celery and beetroot when I get peckish later

Oooh, I just realised that my mash MAY have some syns in as it is ready made chilled mash and says included milk & butter. Would some angel please check for me :) It is; The Co-operative British Maris Piper Mashed Potato - Side Dish.

So possibly 7 syns for the sausages, chicken salad and gravy, so could have 2 more sesame ryvita's to bring my syn count to 10, so theres room for an alpen light if I want one haha.
