I agree - particularly when one is attempting eat - however, TIP: when the person in front who refused to return his seat to the upright position during mealtime attempts to drink his/her beverage (hot is better), just give the offending passengers back of the seat a sharp 'nudge' when the rim of the drinking receptacle has just touched the lips!

:THehehe. Done this, followed by an 'apology'...... :A
    Red wine.
Had previously asked, politely, for him to raise his seat.
Ignored. What else can you do? Had to go to the toilet......

Recline is fine, but not whilst meals are being served.....

No problem with well behaved children and their caring parents.:T

Unfortunately they seem to be in the minority.
  • have a look at the aircraft knee defender a truly wonderful piece of kit :D

That looks amazing! Does it stop the people in front reclining their seat or what does it do?

basically, thats exactly what it does - it stops the seat in front from recling. more info here.

I love the idea of leaving this card on the seat in front

    This is a Knee Defender™ Courtesy Card™

I am using Knee Defender. Knee Defender is a small plastic device that helps me protect myself by limiting how much the seat in front of me can recline. I wanted to let you know about this and provide the following information:
___ Unfortunately, my legs are so long that if you recline your seat at all it would immediately bang into my knees.
___ As best I can estimate, you could recline your seat about ____ inches without banging into my knees. If you would like to recline your seat this much at some point during the flight, please let me know and I will adjust my Knee Defender so that is possible.
___ If you would like to recline your seat at some point during the flight, please let me know and I will try to adjust myself and my Knee Defender so that it can be done safely.
I realize that this may be an inconvenience. If so, I hope you will complain to the airline. Maybe working together we can convince the airlines to provide enough space between rows so that people can recline their seats without banging into other passengers.
    Thank you for your understanding.

I have taken my children to these places since they were babies - they learn how to behave there at an early age - cinema excepted only as I knew they wouldn't sit through the film as they would get bored. Restaurants I have taken babies to many times and they have never caused an issue.

Exactly my point,as your children 'have never caused an issue' they were obviously well behaved, even as babies.

However all children are different (as all parenting is :D) and some are not able to behave properly at 6, 7, 8,9 or 10!
If children aren't able to sit through a film without getting bored, they probably wouldn't sit through a long flight either !
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

We are going on holiday to South Africa in Oct - hubby, me, 3 children (9,8 and 3) with my mum and dad.
Mum and Dad have booked seats 10 rows in front of us :rotfl:
My children are polite & well behaved but I'm waiting to see if they are able to shout 'GRRRANDDMMMAAAAAAAA' quite loud enough to attract my mums attention on the plane :eek:
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

Just be warned though that using one could be considered as "interfering with the proper operation of an aircraft" and get you in trouble.

like a great deal of things in life, its down to interpretation, implementation and good old common sense.:A**

** which all get trumped by FA instructions
  • It's called ''public transport'' for a reason, if you dont like it...buy your own plane or go by another means of transport...bet half the moaners are those people you always get no matter which kinda transport you are on...the loud dronee voices that go right through you and deliberatley want every1 to hear what they are saying, or the stinky ones...u know b.o. and bad breath!!

don't like what im saying, dont moan about kids then, as i said it's public transport, kids pay full fares (age 2+)...if airlines ban them they will lose out on so much money.. they will go bust!!
