I don't see why they can't wrap kids up warm and pop them in the hold :D

I VOTE FOR THIS IDEA AND ITS A MONEY SAVING IDEA AS IT DOUBLES THE CAPACITY OF THE PLANE. ARRIVE AT AIRPORT, CHECK BAGGAGEIN, CHECK KIDS IN GO FOR A RELAXING PINT, SORTED.
I RECKON RYANAIR WILL BE INTERESTED IN THIS.:j:j

I noticed a lot of kids in the business class section of one flight we were on... ( not in business class, though)

I think I'd be very cheesed off if I'd shelled out my hard earned to treat myself and ended up sitting across from a sticky fingered toddler with a sleeping parent in the next row back!

Charge a premium for a kid free cabin - and watch while the folks who like a drink start to irritate the others in the cabin.;)

My heart did sink on a flight back from Tenerife at New Year when the mum behind me asked if we'd seen a dummy fly over our way... no sign of it... oh no says Mum, he'll scream the place down without a dummy... imho the only dummy on the flight was the mother who only took just ONE sodding dummy on board with her when she has a one year old!! This was said before the plane even took off... Oh Joy!!

My lovely hubby swopped seats with me as he knows I hate anyone kicking the back of my seat, or small size 5s coming through the gap between the seats kicking me:eek: I don't blame the kids for having bad parents, and there are some very well behaved parents out there.;)

p.s. it was Tenerife to Glasgow on 2nd Jan, "baby Alfie's" mum - you are the weakest link! lol:rotfl:

Even more sadly, in the majority of cases, that is the reality.

Well done you for bringing your children up properly, you are in a minority.

Were the wine and Valium for you or the children? :)

I flew back from Spain the other day and there were several babies on board who all seemed to be in competition with each other to make the most noise. I eventually knocked myself out with G&T but sometimes I think it would be easier to get the kids drunk.

Wine and valium are for me :D tempting as it is to give them to the kids I cant imagine the parents would be impressed. Although the story is different in the states where kiddie meds are frequently used.

The Bose headphones for me are worth every penny especially as they cancel every noise out, passenger noise, engine noise, and more importantly these days the noise of the staff trying to flog you carp.

I totted up all the flights that my two have taken and it comes to 42.
For 41 of those flights, they would have given no concern, no upset, no cause for interest or problems for anyone -- however, for the people on the DFW-LAS flight in April 2009,I'm sorry, but we did our best. At the end of a 20 hour travelling day, with a tooth coming through, the little girl was beyond herself and unconsoleable. I understand that the people who were around us were a Church group who were coming back from a funeral of one of their elders. I imagine that trip tried their Faith as never before.

Mrs Cat & I are lucky in that both of our children love the entire flying experience and for them, the flight 'starts' when we leave home. But, we make the most of our time together on flights and make the flight as pleasureable as possible. From our experience, putting your hand down into your pocket and buying a child its own seat to travel in is worth every single penny. If airlines wanted to improve the ambience on flights that include small children, then for me, insisting that small children have their own, paid for seat, would be a huge step in the right direction.

I think if they have paid for a seat then that's all that matters...that is not to say that some parents show blatant disregard on flights as to how the kids are behaving  my 2 children 6 and 4 have been used to long haul flights since 9 months old and know how to behave. Our last 2 flights have been Upper Class with Virgin and they have both been well behaved and quiet.

Not in my experience it isn't.
  • Whilst people are whining like the kids that we all hate, about generalising too much, you're still not answering the question of would you like to see adult only flights or cabins?

Say there are 10 flights from London Gatwick every day going to the South of France. You're going for a week to relax in the sun and enjoy some wine with your significant other. You don't have kids, or you've managed to ditch them with the in laws for the week and just want to keep away from children at all costs. You've even booked into a 30+ hotel in a quiet resort. Would you then want to spend 3 hours sat next to a screaming brat? I'm not saying all kids are like that, but do you want to run that risk? If one of the 10 flights was an adult only flight but cost an extra £50 pp, would you pay it over?

I know I would. Hell, without kids on the plane the in flight film may be better too!

A great idea. Don't ban kids from all flights, but give the rest of us a chance to have a relaxing flight without having to become billionnaires with our own private jets.
