Thanks Catshark, Tilly, Lois, Froggy & megela for the Birthday Messages.

Having a lovely day so far. Had a Colosseum charm for my p&ndora bracelet as a lovely reminder of our trip to Rome last Easter and a Rosina Wachmiester cat and a house to put him in off DH.

Bought cakes for work - which wasn't very money saving, but got them from Mr T instead of MrM&S - got a couple extra, but I'm sure my brother and DH will hoover up any that are left.

Nothing to report on the MFW side really, got to go and pay my money in down the town and do another shuffle about - hope to get that done later in the week.

Meal out tonight - not at my original choice of restaurant as it looks like they might have closed down - going to double check later (as its 2 doors douwn from the restuarant DH has booked instead) - real shame if it has gone - getting really restricted for decent restaurant in our town that arn't Italian or Indian (love both - but like a change every now and then).

Middle of the week again folks - they seem to be going faster and faster - maybe its my age :rotfl:

PS Just had notification that my cashback from my holiday in Dec that didn't track has just been accepted - I know its only £5, but every little helps as they say!

Had a nice meal last night and had some more presents.

Some more shower gels, scrubs and body lotions to add to the 'use' up pile, but thats all good as its all stuff I will use - at this rate I might not have to buy any till next Christmas! (maybe!)

Same old at work today, I do get really board sometimes and often when theirs loads to do I have no get up and go to do it. Don't get me wrong, I am really happy about this years dividend, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like to work for myself (proabably lonely after working here for 18 years!)

Anyway, got to pick myself up from this and get positive again - I think you tend to wax lyrical when you have a birthday and wonder what you have achived in the last 12 months - to be fair, thinking of it like that, there is quite alot that has happened - one of those being becoming mortgage free.

I have resisted looking at houses on z00pla since we made our decision, but sometimes its SOOOO tempting.

I have treated myself to the apple green kitchen aid that I have wanted for about 3 years now - it was 10% off in the debenh&ms sale and I hope the cashback tracks.

Maybe I can start making bread occassionally using the economy gastronomy receipe that Tilly recommends?!?!?! I was looking at the recipe last week and DH says that as long as its not 'another thing for you to do when you are up against it anyway' he's up for the HM approach at least some of the time.

Read an article online about processed meat being a health hazzard - we don't eat that much processed meat apart from sandwich meat like ham, turkey and corned beef. Its DH I am more concerned about as I have different things, but DH doen't always have access to facilities and sometimes he needs the ease of a sandwich on the run! I think I am going to try to get DH to try something else so I can cut this down about like falafel wraps or hummous and salad sandwiches - not sure he's going to go for it as he likes his meat - but if I can cut the amount down by just one or two portions a week I will feel better.

If anyone has any suggestions on sandwich fillings I would be most grateful - we already have tinned fish once a week and I do chicken wraps (using pieces of chicken). DH isn't good with mayo and he doesn't like cold pasta!

Its difficult, but if anyone can shed any light...I thank you in advance.

£co have confirmed that the next payment they make to me will be £5.53. Yay!

Raining here today so not gone down the town again, so my paying in will probably done tomorrow instead (hopefully).

Mealplan finalised for next week and a very small shop planned - Herr A tonight.

Tea tonight is HM Cottage Pie portions from the freezer - nice and easy.

    Friday tomorrow...

Ooooh.... nice birthday present to yourself.

Have you actually ordered it? Harts of Stur (where DH got mine) have it at the same price with a free extra glass bowl and digital scales.

  • Great news about the Kitchen Aid :T. We found that Debenhams cashback is slow but reliable :)

Megela could be right in terms of offers, so it's worth double checking the deal. We recently sold two freebies which came with ours, plus one of the cookbooks and they sell well on eb@y, so may help to offset the cost - unless you want to keep the freebies of course :o

I love the EG cookbook, along with Paul Hollywood's bread making book - fab. Plus I think he is a sexy dude so drive Mr T mad :)

I'm useless at sandwich fillings and tend to make left over lunches is girls. DS wants a ham sandwich every day, so no point trying him with pasta salad.

    Hi megela

Yes, I have ordered it. I looked at harts of stur and decided that at this point I have nowhere to put the freebies - so went for the debenh&ms deal - the cashback has tracked and they say it will be paid on 04 April! I should have had an extra 10% off too - it showed in the shoopping bag, but was not applied at the checkout so I have e-mailed them - fingers crossed.

Really looking forward to it arriving - must use it! (I am sure that I will!)

    Cheers

    Hi Tilly

I will keep the freebie selling in mind for next time as I have ordered already - I was thinking about space rather than cash.

Going to have an evening soon where I get the cookbooks out again - I have got over 100 - I really like the recipes in EG - but have only done a few, so will have to see what I can incorporate into the next mealplans.

It is difficult on the sandwich front isn't it when they won't eat anything else - going to have to put the thinking cap on.

    Cheers
