Try Gallygirl's tomato and bacon soup. I've made my third batch of it.,

    Hi catshark

Had fishfinger sandwich in the end, but Bacon & Tomato Soup sounds great - will have to hunt that one down.

Must make some soup of some description this weekend.

  • Paid £124 of change in the bank, was a bit confused at first as I had £140 to pay in - but afterwards I found 8 £2 coins in the bottom of my bag!

Will have to pay those in next week, but in the meantime I have moved the full £140 to the Deposit Fund.

Herr A shop was £3.24 last night and only need bread, T-Rolls, bananas and food bags from Mr T - however....

heard about the M0rris0ns half price deal on the salmon and as I've got to get some fish for my dad I have decided that I will try and get a kilo and mark it against next months food budget. Same with some pork shoulder joints they have on offer in Mr T (2 for £6) - will make a decision about that one later, but the fish is a must if they have some.

Tonights tea will be Chicken Fried Rice using LO chicken from Wednesday - the carcass will be going in the freezer for soup at a later date.

Planning on making a fish pie tomorrow night as I have some cream cheese sitting at the back of the fridge that is going to go mouldy if I don't use it soon.

Sunday we are at MILs as usual.

Going to see another house tomorrow - further away than the last two, but closer to MILs - from the pics it seems like a good balance of house style, potential for big kitchen and actual amount of work needed - though it hasn't got a garage for DH. Well, we will just have to go and have a look and see.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  • Popped on over the weekend to carry on with my Tilly Diary marathon! (up to page 80 odd now...)

We went to see the house on Saturday morning and the location, style, kitchen potential, garden, conservatory dining room was all lovely. But we didn't go in and think 'WOW' this is the one.

Got to say that we came to a decision over the weekend that we are suspending the house hunting for 12 months. We both feel that we have got too much on our plates and DHs health hasn't been good the last few weeks and its really getting him (and me) down.

So we are going to concentrate on getting some more money together with decluttering the house (both the raise money and make our lives a little more relaxed).

We are also going to concentrate on spending more quality time together - the priority has shifted to us and away from a new house.

We are happy where we are for the time being and I think we need time to sort ourselves out before we move onto another lot of stress - we do tend to put ourselves through it.

We also have the issue that FIL is really not well and we don't know how that is going to pan out this year. We have also had word that we are going to be a great-uncle and aunt as DHs 21 year old niece is expecting.

MSE update later...just needed to get that down while I thought about it.

Decluttering also has the added benefit of less to move when you do!

By taking the decision not to move yet it is one less stress and thing to think about when you have enough on your plate already.

Yes, we thought that too - less to move.

We could really do with less stress at the moment.

Ordered laser printer cartridges from Amaz0n and was really disappointed that they have stopped doing the nectar points

Good news is that my home insurance cashback has been confirmed and will be paid on their next run £60 will be going into the pot shortly:j. Doesn't leave much tracked though :(.

Grocery spends are at approx £183/£200 - shouldn't have to buy anything else this week so that will be an extra £17ish into the pot when I get paid.

Dividend due this week too - still don't know how much - but waiting for Thursday with anticipation.

My reading of Tilly's diary has prompted me to steal some of her MSE ways - so we are now:

    - Using up all the toiletries we have got
    - Using up jars of stuff in the fridge
    - Thinking of ways of using odd stuff on the drinks shelf ;)
    - Full cupboard and freezer inventory on my list of things to do; hoping to get done this week

Need to get back in the swing of doing the Gas and Electric readings as I haven't done this for a couple of months - must wait until next payment goes out and then record the data to see if we are still in credit.

After our chat yesterday, DH is fully on board and is going to start sorting the loft out this evening while I'm at my charity meeting. He is also waiting for about £60 from ebay sales that his mate did for him and he says he's going to give it all to me to stick in the pot!

I have also told DH not to go mad on presents for my birthday next week - after being together for nearly 18 years, we have pretty much bought each other everything and I said I would like a pandora charm, a surprise and a meal out (which is what we normally do) - for the meal out I have specified the restaurant and have told him to mention the city discount card I have as it entitles us to 10% off the food bill!

Tonights tea is Tarragon Chicken, Pasta & Broccoli.

    Hope everyone had great weekends.

Well done on making a decision :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I hope that your decision really helps your stress levels and gives you peace.

    Happy ebaying!

  • Hi GG and Catshark

    Thanks for popping by.

I know that DH has never liked the location particularly where we live, but our house is nice and we have nice neighbours at the moment - I think that is why he was keen on the house hunting.

Stress levels have always been an issue with both of us - but DH bottles it up and it affects his health, where as I will scream and shout about it and seem to cope better.

Now we have actually talked about it, I can put my energy into improving things for us.
