Thanks megela - I think you are right. Had another look last night with a more open mind; there may be a couple we go and have a look at.

The way I see it is that we arn't in a rush - the right one will come along and when it does, we will have more money saved towards a deposit.

  • £co payment has left them and I'm just waiting for it to hit my bank before depositing it.

Got my shopping list sorted Herr A and Mr T - this will include fresh stuff I need for our Chinese Banquet we are doing for friends on Saturday and our Valentine Meal next week - much that we love to go out to eat, we never do on Valentine's Day - we stay at home and have an extra special meal.

Tonight's tea will be Fridgeraiders Rissotto - mainly mushrooms and ham, but will spice it up.

Planning on cleaning the house tonight (or at least start it) as I haven't done that yet - don't know whether it will be better if DH goes out or not - granted I get help if he's in, but will I get more done if he's out??

Our 'forever' house which we bought 5.5 years ago we nearly didn't go and see as the appointment times got mixed up. We arrived at 10am, the vendors weren't expecting us til 11am.
We very nearly didn't bother to go back, but by the time we'd walked round and got to the garden we both said 'this is it'.

So I think it pays to be open-minded about what you want, on one of the house buying programmes on TV they have a 'wild card house' which the buyers quite often choose, over what they thought they wanted.

    Good luck with the search!

  • :j:j:jFRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do wish our lives away!

The estate agent rang me this morning to offer me some details of some other houses - there is one coming on the market just down the road from the other one we liked and she said it has a massive kitchen - will be worth looking at the details (hope its got off road parking!).

Anyway, £9.87 received from £co and deposited into the fund.

Still got to transfer £500 from my other account into the fund from my bonus - I think I have been delaying so I can spread the signature updates out :rotfl:.

We have had no TV or internet at home for the last two days and according to Mr Branson's web-site they will both be fixed this evening.

To be honest it was nice to relax after cleaning up last night with magazines and some music on - made a nice change.

The fridgeraiding didn't result in rissotto last night, but it made some very nice HM Ciabatta Pizzas using fridge oddments and storecupboard bits - we also had the other stick of garlic bread that was snoozing in the freezer.

I haven't got anything out of the freezer for tonights tea, but to be fair, I didn't fancy the fish pie I've got on the list - I'm sure I'll work something out.

Herr A's total was just over £12 and that did include a bottle of wine for DH and me for Valentine's Day. Just a few bits to get at Mr T tonight and garlic and ginger from our local shop where they are MUCH cheaper.

Tomorrow's Chinese Banquet will consist of:

    Prawn Toasts
    Vegetable Spring Rolls
Red Cooked Beef - done in the slow cooker
    Chicken Chow Mein
    Chilli Vegetable Stir Fry
    Egg Fried Rice with Peas
    Dips

All home made with the exception of the spring rolls and the dips.

Hope you all have a great weekend and I would like to wish any Chinese amongst us "Gong Hey Fat Choy" for Sunday.

(In case you are wondering - I'm not Chinese, I just work with Chinese suppliers).

    Have a great weekend all.

  • Monday morning blues again and snow to boot...

TV sort of ok over the weekend and a total lack of broadband.

Checked on their web-site again this morning when I got to work and it says the broadband is now working and the TV is being fixed today...we shall see.

Instead we watched a dvd yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed it.

Meals all went well and I succeeded in not buying anything on Friday, but managing from what we had in the freezer. Chinese Banquet went ok too everyone enjoyed the food. Just a bit LO which I've got for lunch today and a bit of Red Cooked Beef which I'm going to freeze for another time (I made loads!).

Not much on the MSE front apart from a few 50ps in the penguin pot - will need to count him up soon and see if there is another deposit on the horizon.

Tonights dinner is HM Chilli from the freezer, Jacket Potatoes & Feta Cheese Salad.

Hope everyones Monday is going well.

  • TV and broadband are working properly again:j

Shame DHs laptop has got a fatal error:mad:

I have finally transferred the £500 from my bonus to the House Deposit Fund :T

Been looking at houses again on z00pla, but nothing is really coming close to the house we went to see. I must be patient - something will come up and I keep telling myself that the longer we wait the better the house and the deposit will be!

Charity meeting last night, so got DH to do tea and very nice his heating up of chilli, microwaving of jacket potatoes and cutting of salad was too :)

Tonights tea is smoked salmon pasta with chilli and lemon - wanted something quick and easy to do as I feel really tired and worn out.

My wisdom tooth has been giving me trouble and its really wearing me down - have painkillers today, so should be a bit better than yesterday.

    Happy Tuesday!

  • Its snowing here again, but doesn't look like its sticking (fingers crossed).

Got home last night and went to sleep on the sofa! Must have needed it, been really tired lately and DH insisted I have a rest and then didn't wake me up!

Woke up at 8.30pm and did tea.

Nothing really on the MSE front today.

Tonights tea is Posh Sausage & Mash made with Onion Marmalade Sausages - got some swede to mash into the spuds too.

    Wednesday again folks...

Snowing here in the East Mids as well, but very fine and hopefully not laying as that'll be too easy to cancel going to the gym later!

We've got pork chops for tea, but might pinch your idea of adding swede to the mash.

    Hi megela

Glad it didn't stick - quite warm today in comparison.

Pork and swede go so well together don't they? I remember as a child mum doing grilled belly pork (really crispy) with mashed pots and swede...delish.

Might have to look at getting some of that as a different meal - will have to flavour it up for DH. As I've said before, he's not keen on plain pork.
