Thanks megela.
We had another chat last night and I am still looking at the figures, because at the very least it is a good exercise in how much we could push ourselves for the right property.
We are still no ruling it out, BUT as DH said last night, we wouldn't be hesitating if the kitchen wasn't an issue.
It is probable that we will still go and have a second look - but we are on the look out for other properties too - we are not in a rush and want to make the right decision. If someone steps in before us, then they have made the decision for us and we won't regret it.
In other news...
DH said that he's going to give me some more money at the end of the month to put into the deposit account and I am going to sort out my account too and do a sweep. I also need to sort out how much of my bonus I am going to put into the account.
We had a letter from the executer of our family friends' estate yesterday which says that we are moving into the final stages of everything being tied up now - still dependant on HMRC as yet another return has got to be put in and the final asset list drawn up. I still think its going to be a couple of months before its all finished.
I have heard a rumour that we will be getting a dividend at work, this has not been confirmed either way by the boss yet and if it does happen I have no idea how much it will be...watch this space.
Had a call from our family friend's physio today (who sorted out alot of his affairs) and the gravestone is finally going to be removed and the number changed from 30 to 20 on his birth date. This will be at a cost of £350 - but it looks like me and the physio are going halves as he feels responsible. After this is completed, I will be be taking responsibility for the grave's upkeep.
He also told me that one of our friend's old pupils had been in touch and that they are going to do a Memorial Fencing Trophy in his name at one of the schools he used to teach at (he was a Biology teacher and a National Fencing Coach). This has really pleased me as at least he will be remembered (even if his family couldn't give a monkey's).
Roads were awful this morning - was stuck in traffic for 30 mins as there had been two accidents very close together - one of the cars really looked mangled, really need to be careful with all this black ice about.
Last nights tea turned out better than expected - we could have fed 3 people with the amount it made, but we ate it all...whoops!
Tonights tea will either be: Seafood Pasta with LO HM Sauce I have in the freezer or Seafood Chinese Curry with rice - both can be done from storecupboard/freezer ingredients, so I will give DH the choice later.
Got to remember to get my piece of pork out for tomorrow's tea tonight as I am putting it in the slow cooker (MSE recipe).

However much the estimates add up to I would add 20% more on top of that because building work always ends up costing more.
People always push themselves further, we did and I don't regret it at all. You tend to regret things in life that you didn't do and hardly ever things that you do.

Thanks LP - its all food for thought.
Was going to 10% on top for contingency - but will alter the figures in line with what you said - better to be safe than sorry.
Cheers for the input:)

So, its still snowing here.
£8.20 confirmed from £co on next payment run.
Still haven't been down to pay that £120 in - don't fancy the walk in the snow - but could really do with going tomorrow as I have GOT to get some birthday cards as I have already rejected the ones in Mr T.
Not much news today (good job really as my post yesterday was a bit long - sorry folks).
Last night's tea was seafood pasta using sauce up from the freezer. At this rate I might have enough room in the upstairs freezer to fit all the bits and pieces from the chest freezer so I can defrost it finally.
Piece of Pork Shoulder is currently sitting in the slow cooker on a bed of onions. This has been rubbed with garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground coriander, fennel seeds, sea salt and chilli flakes. This should cook to create 'Pulled Pork' - fingers crossed. We will be having roast potatoes, veggies and gravy with this.
Hoping for some leftovers for Pulled Pork Wraps for lunch tomorrow - but we will see.
Happy Wednesday everyone - middle of the week again.

The pork recipe worked out really well - especially as DH is not keen on Roast Pork as such - unfortunately - it was so nice we ate it all! (It was a small piece, enough for 3 people, but still). We were stuffed! Next time I will definately save some for another meal.
£co payment confirmed, just waiting for it to arrive in the bank.
Going to plod down the town at lunchtime and get the birthday cards - could really do with the walk.
Small shop at Herr A tonight.
Tonights tea will be Fridgeraiders Egg Fried Rice. Definately less meat on the menu tonight.

Happy Friday everyone!
£8.20 transferred to the pot this morning from £co - signature updated accordingly.
£5.73 shop in Herr A last night, so groceries stand at £179.23/£200 - bread, milk and fruit to get from Mr T tonight.
The fridgeraiding will be done tonight as we went for a cheap and cheerful pub meal last night as DH didn't go out and he wanted to get out the house. I had a voucher for £5 off £15 of food, so the whole bill including drinks was only £12.79 (I O DH £6).
Will be transferring some money over the weekend from my bonus to the Deposit account (which incidently they have lowered the interest rate on!).
Apparently the dividend is definately happening and there is money allocated, but still no idea when or how much (boss still hasn't informed us officially).
The weekends meals will be:
Fri: Fridgeraiders Egg Fried Rice
Sat: Butternut Squash & Harrissa Cous Cous (prob with some bacon thrown in for good measure)
Sun: Eat at DHs parents (MIL always feeds us on a Sunday - we are very lucky)
Next week is payday and all the usual juggling will commence.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Lucky you! We always have to feed FIL on a Sunday... he's been known to tut if we tell him we have other plans... Mr MWC said he was joking, I'm not so sure...

Have a great weekend MCI
I know how lucky we are. We sometimes buy the meat and I definately make sure I buy EVERYTHING for Christmas Dinner. There are some weeks we don't do because of other plans - but because of how disabled DHs dad is - MIL is pleased to have us down there. We did the washing up for her yesterday!
I hope your FIL is only joking when he tuts...

Had quite a lazy weekend and didn't get as much done as I wanted housework wise.
I really must kick myself this week as I have charity work to do, tidying the house to do and a busy week at work.
To do list:
Charity Stuff
- Charity Wages (today)
- Draft Directors Report (for meeting tonight)
- File A/Cs, Report and Return on Charity Commission Site (Tuesday)
- AGM Letters (to be sent out this week)
- Need to look at the other 2 bids I got on the go and see if I can get those completed
Home / MSE Stuff
- Surface Tidy the house
- Put Christmas Wrapping Paper away and allocate a box in the loft for presents to be bought throughout the year.
- Put all the clean washing away.
- Transfer £500 to our Deposit Fund from my Bonus
- Pay in at the bank then transfer £105 to Deposit Fund from DH
- DH Job: Buy new mattress (have transferred funds) and get rid of the old one (money allocated from my bonus)
- Research the TVs we looked at at the weekend and make a decision on which one we are going to go for (see if we can get better deal too and / or cashback)
Work 9-5 Monday - Friday and try to get the archiving done aswell as the other work I have on at the moment.
More to report later - feel better now I have got the TO DO LIST written down. To be fair, there is probably loads more stuff to put on it, but I am not going to worry about that this week.

So, the mealplan went to pot, but still used stuff in the house. (Friday we had fridgeraiders omelette - prepared lovingly by DH and Saturday we had Spag Bol from the freezer with HM Garlic Mushrooms and garlic bread).
Mr T shop on Friday was less than £6, but can't remember the exact figure, so going to put £6 in the total. Plus £1.49 on some garlic bread on saturday (1 stick went in the freezer). Got to pop by Herr A on the way home to get some kitchen roll as we are completely out. So taking all that into consideration Monthy Grocery Spends come to £187.51/£200. Hoping won't have to by anything else until payday on Thursday now.
As described in the TO DO LIST above, there will be some money shuffling going on this week into the deposit fund - will up date signature when the transactions happen.
Tonights tea is Salmon - not decided whether to do with Dill & Cream Sauce or with some sort of chinese flavouring baked in the oven. Either way the salmon is defrosting nicely at home.
Must get on with the Directors report for tonight's charity meeting.
3 days and counting till pay day.
