Wow, there's a lot of good stuff in those two posts! So glad Greece went well, and you've got that kitchen a lot further forward too. Good times, and plans for future good times too - lovely :)

I hope so KC - a lot to consider - but I have got to concentrate on the job in hand.

It was fabulous thanks SHS...wish I was back there now - my back is suffering from sitting at a desk. :)

There is a good chance that the kitchen/re-wire is going to go over budget before I can chuck some more money in the fund. But not to worry - I have 0% credit card to hand...in fact I might just pay a little less off the cost of the kitchen and free up some cash just in case.

I haven't talked about my emergency fund for ages - I got a whole £12.62 interest which has brought the balance just £117.20 shy of my £4k target. When I reach the target I will just keep going with the regular payment, but may divert any extras I have been putting in to other pots. Really pleased with my progress on this considering I haven't had a lot of spare money to do this (this is my own emergency fund - DH has his own separately).

I am starting to realise that by the end of the year, we should be in a reasonably good financial position:

    - The mortgage should be under £100k (let's see what interest they put on in Jan)
    - My EF should be at target (funny how this has just crept up on me!)
    - Kitchen and roof renovations should be complete (and paid for)
    - Alot more decluttering and organising will be done

Before I had my holiday, I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere and everything was just bogging me down; and although there is still alot of hard work to do before the end of the year, I am feeling alot more positive.

Thank you all for your support - I really appreciate it.

Electrics are being finished off today. :j Gas fitter is coming tomorrow. :j Plastering can be sorted by our kitchen fitter :j

Things are starting to drop into place. Next week, things will actually look like they are happening - which will be a bonus.

Was going out tonight, but it's been cancelled - was looking forward to it, but at least we won't spend any money.

    Not much else going on.

I have one stressed DH and I can't help him :(

He's taking the floor up in the kitchen bit by bit when he gets home from work and he's struggling against the clock.

He was panicing this morning that he wouldn't have time before the kitchen fitter starts on Monday - and also all the other trades he's got to co-ordinate.

He was relieved when I said that the kitchen fitter said it was going to take 7-10 days to do the kitchen - (probably longer now because of the plastering) and that means he can get the gas fitter and electrician to come back the week after to do the final fix and and connect up the cooker - he was all of a fluster and now he's a little calmer.

But I can't help him with taking the floor up (and he won't let me because of the dust - he's a H&S Officer and he has all the correct stuff) - so I have to make do with making meals and making sure he's ok mentally. Always a worry when he's under stress.

Nothing much else happening - Friday tomorrow and back to yoga!

It sounds horrible, but it will pass - make sure the biccies are really nice, and the tea is just the right strength :) and take care of you too.

Thanks - been building it for some time now. I always wanted to be able to pay my own way even if at a reduced rate if anything happened to my job (for whatever reason).

Yes, it will pass and I think he is feeling a little more positive - but still alot to do this weekend. I have put cookies on the shopping list - he will like that :) - I'm fine - just missing Greece and frustrated that I can't do more to help.

Had a nice surprise when I got home last night.

A cook book had come in the post - not unusual for MCI I here you cry, but I didn't order this one!

My Godfather had sent it (well ordered it from a place in the UK) - it's is a copy of the Cretan Cookbook he uses out in Greece - we tried to find a copy, but couldn't. It cheered me up no end!

Gas fitter is coming either tonight or tomorrow to do the gas work (needs to be checked first - fingers crossed there is no more to do). Kitchen & dishwasher are both being delivered tomorrow.

Taking up the floor continues - DH bricked up holes last night, so had a rest from the boring monotony of hammering at tiles with a drill! (though not that much more exciting me thinks!)

Need to withdraw some money to pay CC bills tomorrow and get the household accounts up to date.

I am also going to try and sort some more paper tomorrow - wish me luck!

Back to yoga tonight - that will be lovely and tea will be tuna steaks and lemon & basil potato salad.

    Have good weekends all.
