    Busy weekend again.

Had a good Saturday seeing friends etc..the BBQ went ahead and we had a really nice time.

Sunday we started to attack the spare room and the study with some gusto. DH in the spare room and me in the study.

We have both emptied boxes and got rid of rubbish - we have plenty of empty boxes for packing up the kitchen now.

I discovered some paperwork I thought I'd lost - and I will now be able to get our family friend's grave rights sorted once and for all. (Must make that one of my jobs before I go away).

Whilst sorting through paperwork I have been filing some in general sections, but not too refined as far as order etc.. this will be the next stage once everything is where it should be.

Huge pile of paperwork to shred from our family friend's estate - some interesting things to keep too - including some receipts from 1810 for some work that was done on the family estate and some rent books for the houses on the estate from 1901...fabulous pieces of social history and I will be keeping them safe.

The anguish that he must have gone through with all the complicated family financial stuff must have been terrible...family wranglings and begging letters from so called 'friends' makes me so angry and extremely sad. I am glad in a way that I will finally be laying all this to rest for him. I just feel so sorry I couldn't have done anything to help at the time. I need to do it for me too - I shouldn't get so caught up in the past and something that didn't really concern me (well it didn't then), but I feel that I have a responsibility to him even though he's gone.

Sorry for the ramblings - just good to get it all off my chest. Few more boxes to go and it will be all sorted and the door can be shut for him.

I also managed to get all the paperwork sorted for my tax return which I hope to get done next weekend (maybe??). I have also checked in for my flights to and from Greece - printed my boarding passes and insurance stuff and put everything together in a pocket.

No charity meeting tonight, so I am going to carry on with the study and DH is going to carry on with the spare room - dare I say that there is now floor space in both rooms?

I hope everyone is well and I wish you all a fantastic week ahead.

Thanks! Great area - I love Greece so much I had a look on google maps :o motorboats moored in the bay, lovely seaside town, a purpose built promenade, lots of local history (even in Greece, not *always* the case!) bliss.

Really looking forward to it...not been before - but I am sure that I will go back as long as godfather has apartment out there. Not looking forward to being away from DH, but will be glad to be away from the mess of the re-wire.

We carried on with the sorting last night and got a bit more done.

Shredded a load of family friend's bank statements - going back to 1983!!! Need someone to empty the works shredder now so I can bring some more stuff tomorrow :rotfl:

    - N3xt bill paid (only £10) - with gift card.
    - Sorted out paperwork for grave rights transfer - will get a stamp on the way home.
    - Need to buy birthday cards on the way home too.
    - Need to sort out my balance transfer between 0% credit cards tonight; plus CC payments.

If I do say so myself, I am getting things done (or at least prepared)! Got to keep chipping away at it.

Made a huge cottage pie last night for tea and 5 individual portions have been frozen - that makes 8 in total in the freezer - plenty for when we have no kitchen and when I am away for DH.

Tonight's meal will be fish, pasta and a few bits I have in the fridge...still trying to use things up!

Feeling quite positive at the moment.

Glad you got the grave rights transfer paperwork sorted out plus all the other paperwork. You are still being a good friend to him

The old paperwork must be fascinating,

Some of the paperwork is very interesting. Especially as alot of it is for a Manor Estate - to see the income generated and how much it costs to run is amazing.

I have got all the records from the sale of the manor too - and the lists of all the contents - very interesting indeed.

Using lunchtimes to do some shredding using work's facilities - that's a bit more done.

Not much to report other than I had a skull cracking headache last night - so after I had transferred the credit card balance (hope I've done it right) and done some payments - i lay down on the bed and was spark out for a couple of hours.

DH went out and bought some stuff he could cook for tea and I was waited on hand and foot once I woke up (he is good). Fortunately last night's tea would have been a cook from frozen job - so no wastage!

Head is a bit better today and I will be cooking tonight! Roast Chicken Dinner with all the trimmings - one of our last roast dinners at home before the oven gets ripped out!

    Happy hump day everyone.

Sorry to hear you've had *that* bad a headache, MCI - sometimes it just happens, and sometimes its about, lets say, the stress of having your kitchen ripped out? Seriously, look after yourself xxx
