Yikes! Thats not a good day
and your DH definitely needed hospital, with those number of stings in areas with so many blood vessels ... hope he continues getting better.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well yesterday went pear shaped too!
Although DH was feeling a bit better, he managed to break his car! The track rod end sheared off! Fortunately our friend who is fitting the kitchen has a son who is trained mechanic - so he was coming to fix the car today (cheap!). However, DH lost the steering when it snapped and went into the neighbours fence dislodging one of the concrete posts (which were only put in a few months ago). He's been round, apologised and has offered to re-concrete it for them - obviously they were a bit upset, but pleased that he had been to see them and accepted his offer to fix the damage.
When I got home I nipped to order a couple more end panels for the kitchen and came away £250 worse off!!!! Hopefully they will come next week.
Got back and DH was in the garden with one of our neighbours (who was also a friend before we moved in the street) having beer! And he had a glass of wine waiting for me which was most welcome after spending a £250 on 2 pieces of green wood!!!
Up to this point I have had no phone calls saying anything else has gone wrong!
Woke up about 5am after having a bad dream and couldn't get back to sleep - so got up at six and stopped the alarm going off. I needed to call my brother to make sure everything was alright with Mum - fortunately it was.
Going shopping on the way home, then we are going to un-block Mum's sink and then hopefully going for something to eat!
DH has just text to say he has a working car again - whoop, whoop!

Oh my gosh, a very wild week you're having! Glad all is in recovery/turned out ok and that the wine was flowing (definitely sounds like you needed it!)
Yay to new cookers, what a great way to end the weeka penny picker upper. :rotfl: they tried to deliver two!
Just after it had arrived at home and DH had called me to say it had arrived and what a faff they had getting it in the house - I received another call to say they were going to deliver a cooker! Don't think it was on a BOGOF deal :rotfl: - would have kept the second one (not really) and fleabayed it - but I think it would have been a dead giveaway when they saw the other cooker in the kitchen!!!
Just been to get a sink and a few other things from T00lstation - which is just round the corner from work. Tap was ordered this morning and going to get the floor tiles at the weekend.
Things are starting to come together on the kitchen fitting front - we now have some drawers and a cupboard!
Still haven't had order confirmation on my bits of green wood - going in store at the weekend so will follow that up.
Re-heeled shoes picked up from town and bargain face cream purchased (4.99 each) - so quite a jam packed lunch time.
Really glad it's Friday again and tomorrow I have got to tackle financials and some more paperwork sorting/decluttering.
Hope everyone is well and happy Friday to you all.

It's happening! That's so good! You'd probably be a bit crowded in the kitchen with two cookers2023: the year I get to buy a car0
-
It certainly is happening.
£406.42 spent this week and £500 given to the kitchen fitter for this week.
The above figure does include a skip, paying DHs nephew for helping to fill it and food to feed everyone that day!
Work continues today.
Was going out tonight, but DH has developed about 3/4 very nasty cold sores (probably immune systems' reaction to the wasp sting) so we are going to stay at home tonight.
Anticipating about £800 on the CC by the time we have finished - which realistically we will be able to pay off in about 3 months - so I am not too worried. Was stressing about it earlier in the week, but it is what it is - I am getting the kitchen I want and we have the means to pay for it so all good there. (So glad I found MSE as that wouldn't have been the case without it!)

I know - I am so excited!
But not very impressed with the quality of the pan supports! (they are castings and I know about these things :rotfl:) - so a complaint is going in today.
Apart from that - I am very excited!!!
Did I say I was excited?? :rotfl:

DH found another receipt for me this morning - so need to adjust the figures by about £25.
Still no order confirmation for my pieces of expensive green wood (which we found out over the weekend are chipboard with an oak veneer!!) and they couldn't help me in store yesterday - so it's complaint Monday today!
Ordered floor tiles through click & collect - nearest branch with any left is 15 miles away - but will be worth it as they are half price (only £125 for enough to do the whole kitchen and I used my cashback CC and went through £co!!). We really should have got them sooner...but hey ho!
Still waiting for tap and need to get a ducting kit for the extractor.
Spend, spend, spend - but it is pay week this week and we will also get the rental money this week - looking forward to OPing on 05 Sept!
Went round to my see my neighbour by our old house on Saturday and we had a lovely chat catching up. She's not very happy there now and hopes to save enough to move in the next couple of years. Managed to catch up with my friends too.
In charity news our gardener is retiring at the end of the month - but fortunately we have a replacement for him lined up. We are also doing work trials with the driver/gardeners' that applied for the job.
Feedback received on the bid I did before my holiday (finally) and will be sending it off this week - it does however mean we have missed the deadline for it being reviewed in October and it will go to the trustees of the foundation we are applying to in February instead...better look for a couple more to fill the gap! Also need to get wages done tonight once we get back from sorting floor tiles.
I think it's going to be a busy week!
Meal planned for this week until Wednesday and we may have a takeaway on Thursday (all depends if DH's cold sores are better as we both fancy a curry!)
Tonight's offering is griddled turkey steaks, cous cous and salad.
