    Hi - I'm back!!!!!

Had a really nice time in Cyprus! Wish I was still there.

    Quick update:

Got back to the spare fridge freezer having broken (had it second hand about 8 years ago). It was really awful, mouldy, smelly and off seafood....yuk!

What a waste though - had to throw away a whole pack of salmon fillets I hadn't even opened! Plus there was 2 portions of homemade soup, 2lb of plums that I had prepared for chutneys, a box of red peppers kept for red pepper jam and a bag of HG cherry toms that I was going to make a sauce out of. Plus squid tubes, mussels, prawns and spring rolls...I was really sad to throw it all away. Its not really the things that I can buy from the supermarket , its the things I have taken time to prepare and freeze to use later - such a waste of time!

Anyway, it means we need a new fridge freezer for the spare room, but not going to rush to get one as I don't want to spend a fortune. Its really useful as an overflow freezer, a beer fridge and especially useful when I do catering and for Christmas and parties!

    Moan over....

Bank account was credited with £11.32 from Quidco while I was away.

Still got to make my OP of £110; and still got to bank my £25 in 50ps and claim my £29 back off Paycare - all jobs for this week.

Got another small catering job doing a birthday party for my cousins kids - should make about £30 as given her a good discount and that can go towards the next OP.

Decided that I'm going to get a magazine subscription for one of my friend's Christmas presents (never know what to get her!) and was glad to see that Clubcard rewards do both Good Food and Olive mags for £14 worth of vouchers - so going to sort one of those out for her.

I thought this was going to be a quick update, but I seem to have rambled on a bit...

Can't wait to catch up with all your diaries.

Glad you had a good time on your holidays.. Sorry to hear about your freezer, hope you get a new one soon..

When are you making your next OP? Will it be £110 + £25 penguin + £29 Paycare?

  • Going to make my next OP on Friday (3 weeks late, so it will nearly be time to do the next one!) Going to pay £110 plus the £25 from penguin and £10 quidco - so £145 altogether - sod it...might aswell round it up to the £150 as usual - how did I get there??????

Will be putting the paycare (when I get it back) towards the next payment in a couple of weeks time.

The OP routine has been completely scuppered by going on holiday - but will get back on track in the next couple of weeks.

Going to look at fridge freezers with hubby tonight (what an exciting life we lead!)

Got to get a birthday pressie for my god-daughter - she is two on Saturday. Her nan (who is my best friend) and I are going shopping for party food tomorrow as I'm paying for and helping to prep that as part of her present. So theres a bit of expenditure there, but at least its all planned for.

  • Guess who forgot her stuff for OPing today??????

But I have made the decision that I will do Oct/Nov's OP on Monday - a total of £300...just going to go for it -this will bust the target for this year.

Due to get my mortgage statement in the next few weeks, looking forward to it, be interesting to see what the actual balance is.

Oh, and have now exceeded the target for 2011!!!

  • With breaking the target yesterday for OP, I have been thinking about next year.

Our fixed rate comes to an end in July and I was thinking about paying a lump sum off. In the next few weeks, I should find out if I'm going to get a bonus this year and how much it will be, so I was thinking that I could pay a bit when I get the bonus (normally December wages) and then some more when the fixed rate comes to an end - so no penalty. Don't know how much yet, but have been playing around with the spreadsheet with some satisfactory results. It is all pie in the sky at the moment as we don't know if the bonus will be forthcoming, but fingers crossed - will report back when I have actual figures!

Been looking round for a new fridge freezer and have decided to pay a little bit more to get more freezer space. If the catering does take off, going to need it, so it is an investment for the future. Looking at paying approx £190 now instead of about £130 - its coming out of the joint account, so its not really a problem. Need to get it sorted in the next few weeks because of the build up to Christmas and a need by DH to chill his beer down!!!!!

Now the hols are over and we are back to reality, we have started to think about Christmas and we are going to sit down and make a list tonight of people we are going to buy for and roughly how much we are going to spend.

Mealplan for Nov also needs to be done along with my shopping list - not sure when I'm going to fit it in as I have a fund raiser this weekend. Last night was my chill out night, because the rest of this week is going to be manic.

  • I was thinking again...dangerous I know, but I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone on this forum.

    Reading your diaries inspires me.

And without that inspiration, I wouldn't have started OPing.

I am really pleased to have exceeded my target for this year and look forward to the impact I can make on the mortgage in the coming 12 months.

    So !!!

  • Just got some Christmas pressies online. Used a code to get 30% off and should get cashback through Quidco.

Thats 2 people sorted, a stocking filler for my Mum and a bottle of cleanser for me!!!!! in one purchase!

Unfortunately, got to buy lunch today as bread had gone mouldy...not happy - had found some cheese and a slice of ham in the fridge to make DHs sandwiches, made them, went to wrap them and noticed mould!!! What a waste and no bread for me to have hummous on toast so got to go and fetch something.

  • Another week goes by.

Made £30 from the buffet at the weekend - so £20 of that will be going towards the Dec OP.

Still waiting for the mortgage statement! Getting excited now.

B+C up for renewal in a couple of weeks time - have had a quick look - but will have to settle down and look properly to make sure we get the best deal.
