Picked up the present from debenhams...wrote cards, but forgot to take them with me at lunch to post them - so got to do that on the way home. Cards for work also written and distributed this morning.
A bit of food shopping to be done on the way home and then we are going to have a simple dinner tonight and chill.
Hairdressers in the morning 8.40am and meeting up with a friend I don't see very often tomorrow lunchtime (more presents distributed!)
Carol service was nice - at least there we plenty of traditional carols this year. Won on the brownies' raffle too (twice) a teddy bear and a jar of jam!Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

Not going to get the OP done this week - just haven't got enough money left in my account - when I get paid, it will be my first priority.
Cards posted on way home on Friday - no chill out as Dad came on the phone and had a right pop at me...
Saturday went well and managed to get more presents wrapped yesterday (though not as many as I wanted).
Went to get Christmas Tree yesterday too - but couldn't find our green builders bucket, so its just standing up in the corner of the front room waiting for a new bucket before we de-net and decorate.
Friends birthday today, but not sure if we are going out tonight as she usually does something with her grown up children - so will have to wait and see.
Countdown commences to breaking up for Christmas - loads of work to do, a couple of presents still to get and a few charity tasks to complete before I can relax.Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

Happy New Year to all MFWs.
Had a mainly relaxing time over the holiday and managed to get all my tasks done except one - not a problem really as it doesn't have to be submitted till 16th Jan.
Still no OP done yet, but intend to make my first one of the year count with and extra £50 going towards what I planned to OP due to cash presents and Penguin being back up to £25!
So as long as its not p***ing it down tomorrow (as it was this morning) I am going to go and sort the OP out. Also need to find my receipt for the £160 fee we paid for changing the names on the mortgage so I can get that taken off what we owe.
Need to have a play about with targets for this year with the fixed rate coming to an end mid-year - but my planned OP of £350 will help us get well on the way.
Need to seriously catch up with diaries too as I've not been on here since we broke up from work!Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

As the rain has stopped today I managed to get down the town to make my OP of £350 to start the year off.
I also checked with them about the £160 fee and it seems that it was credited to our account when we started the process of adding DH to the mortgage and then debited it when it was all completed and so appeared on different statements. Glad thats all straight now, can now punch the figures into my spreadsheet and get a true reflection of wahts going on with the mortgage.
As an estimate, we now have a balance of approx £16.2k and a daily interest rate of £2.97.
My DH thought I was mad last night as we went shoppng and I bought 2 stocking fillers for next Christmas 1/2 price, but then just warned me that I better remember that I had bought them (and where I've put them) LOL - that could be easier said than done.
Must try to get back into the surveys and I think I'm going to save Mr T stamps this year instead of just putting the money in a bank account - safer that way, it has to be spent on shopping then!

Sad news yesterday, a long term family friend (ie all my life) died of a brain bleed in hospital yesterday. I went to see him, there was no response - I hope in someway he could hear me - I thanked him for all he had done over the years our help our family. As soon as I got home from the hospital I had a call from his friend to say that he had passed away.
Annoying thing is that his brother cannot be bothered (IMO) to come up from down south to make the necessary arrangements and its been left to his friend (he had no other family). However, I am sure that his brother will be bothered to take his inheritance! Its not my place to interfere, so I will take a step back - I have offered his friend help and although I don't think he will ask, I have offered.
Just needed somewhere to vent...Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

Hi Miss,
Well done on the first OP of the year, but as Froggy says sorry to hear about your sad news.
Grief is dealt with people in many different ways. Some people like to be very pro-active in times of death and it helps them to "put things straight" almost whereas others take a stance of ignoring it, I guess in the hope that they can almost pretend it hasn't happened and to stop the reality setting in. Or it could be a case that he really just doesn't care which is a shame as at the end of your life the only thing that really matters is your family.
All the best

Hi LP
Thanks for your kind words.
I am with you 100% on the grieving process.
Found out a bit more yesterday, that he and his brother fell out years ago and apparently were unable to smooth it over - although our friend tried on numerous occassions.
Feeling a bit better today, a bit more focused - life goes on regardless.
On the MSE side, there is a possibility that we will be getting a small dividend at work (within the next month!) I have checked and I won't have to pay tax on it as I am only a basic rate tax payer and we get a tax voucher for 10%. When I know if and how much we are going to get, I will definately be factoring some of it into my OPs.
I also want to do a couple of things to the house - thinking of having a wood burner in the dining room to make it all cosy in the winter.
Anyway, getting a bit ahead of myself as we don't know for definate yet and how much its going to be! Can't help being a bit excited though.
Although its been a pretty carp start to the year, I'm hoping for good things to come out of 2012.Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016
