You can only pay into one cash ISA in any tax year, so you will need to wait until 6 April to fund this coming tax year's ISA assuming you have already paid £5,100 into the cash ISA for 2010/ 2011.

I haven't used my full allowance this year for the existing ISA, but if it's only one then I think it's fairly obvious I should wait.

As long as you transfer the current year subscriptions in full, you can continue subscribing to the ISA once it has been transferred. The subscriptions made whilst it was at the previous provider will be treated as if you only made them into the new ISA.

I rang on Sunday afternoon, over 7 days ago now, and mine still has not been redesignated. Getting worried now.

I'm still waiting too. I spoke to them last week, they said it was in a queue, but the interest would be backdated.

Changed mine 7 days ago and on online banking it says Isa Saver

Getting worried now as ive received letter this morning

    and it starts off with

"Thank you for choosing to invest in a Halifax ISA Saver .............."

On my original letter when i opened the ISA Direct Reward

    it starts off with

"Thank you for your online application to open a Halifax ISA Direct Reward account.................."

Hoping Halifax havent cocked up here cos all 3 accounts that i changed from Direct Reward 3 to Direct Reward 4 are now showing ISA Saver at .2%

Bloody hell with technology today surely we should have just been able to change it in our online account!!!!!!

@reliable65, it's a quirk of Halifax systems that it has to revert to an ISA Saver before being upgraded or re-designated as an ISA Direct Reward 4. Keep an eye on it online over the next few days and it should rectify itself. You should also receive another set of paperwork showing the correct ISA title too.

I did mine last Monday 28th Feb and it's now correctly titled online and I've had the first set of erroneous paperwork through, so just one more set of paperwork and I should be in the clear!

I got the same letter today, so did my husband, but neither have changed to ISA 4 on the on-line banking. His is showing 0.1% interest, and mine 0.2%.

When we were in the branch today, we asked them, and they said they would key it in and it should show in 24 hours. I just hope they don't mess it up!

We have not added or withdrawn anything, so it should be easy to check the interest when it is added soon.

However, the info we were given as to when and how much interest would be added when we redesignated, is not how it is happening.

You mean there will be TWO sets of paperwork??

The stuff we got today is exactly the same as we got when we opened the ISA 3s in December. That certificate does not say ISA 3 on it either.

Yes, I believe so. At least that's what has happened each time we've re-designated ours to whatever the latest incarnation of the ISA Direct Reward is.

The one time when HBOS failed to do so correctly was switching from the ISA Direct Reward --> ISA Direct Reward 2 last March. The signs that something was amiss were the title downgrading to the ISA Saver online but not then updating to the ISA Direct Reward 2 and the second set of "correct" Direct Reward 2 paperwork never came through. After several failed attempts to sort it out over the phone, I had to write a couple of letters of complaint before the interest was correct and received a small amount of compensation, £20 from memory.

If you specifically request it after the interest is paid out in April, they'll provide you with a breakdown of what interest has been paid at what rate and when and you can then see whether it tallies with your own figures.

Personally, given that they're totally deluged at this time of year, I'd give them another week or so to update their systems and get the right paperwork out to you by post.
