I have done my last potting/planting last night for February, and getting ready for the March. I bought asparagus from Aldi the other week, and as the ground is not ready to plant anything yet, I put them in a big planter. And the horseradish root that I got for OH went into Morrisons flower bucket as well. I might replant them/move them when my raised beds are ready (and I know the ground around them won't be walked on so much anymore).

My leaks are in - used meat tray, and put them straight out in the plastic Wilko's greenhouse. Will probably rake for ever to come up now that the weather turned cold (was +1 at 7am this morning!)

My top task for March is to try and create space in the greenhouse for the plug plants that are due to arrive soon. I had brought in a lot of my lily plants after they were decimated last winter - just as well with the record lows this year. So they will go back outside freeing up a lot of space.

Also brought in a lot of fuschias and waiting to see if they have survived or not. Can these be put out now in the knowledge that if they have survived thus far they will be ok for the year ahead?

I also have a couple of shelves worth of new strawberry runners from last year which are looking very healthy. I was thinking of popping 2 or 3 in along with the fruit trees I have in 40 litre tubs on the patio - would this be ok anyone?

I've planted my garlic, red onions (red barron), and shallots (golden gourmet). Got some more shallots to go in, going to try some red ones.
Got to sort through my seed packets and see what needs starting off indoors - I'm new to this so reading all these posts with interest and taking notes!

Love the carpet tile idea for the peas Sally - how close do you sow the seeds?

I am planting my root parsley at the end of this month Budgetboo - first time growing also. Just figured it would be pretty much like parsley and would need some sun to get it germinating nicely. Will probably put it in a large pot in the plastic greenhouse near the top so it can get humid when the sun hits it.

Hi, I found it in Wilkinson's. I think it was £1.99 or similar. OH loves horseradish and constantly complains that any he buys are too weak, so I thought I'll let him grate his own! (when I am not around)

Beware the horseradish - it can go a bit rampant. I saw somewhere that people plant it in a bucket buried in the ground to try and contain it! A bit like mint, it will bully it's way through your patch!

Thank goodness it wasn`t minus any temperature last night but was worth the palaver of protecting my seedlings. I have slightly changed the nearest area on the netweather as the one I chose appears to be a bit inaccurate. It looks as though there won`t be any more scary episodes this week, but we`ll see

Re tidying up and organising seed packets. I used some large ziplock bags from costco and labelled each bag eg roots, beans, salads, brassicas and so on. Then I listed the seeds and placed list and seeds in the appropraite bag and I tick off and date when I plant. Then I lined up all the bags in a shopping basket It works brilliantly and I can see at a glance what I am up to.

Please write your planting dates when you can Sally, it`ll help to restrain me. I also love the carpet tiles re peas and have 2 trays of oskar sprouting
