Hi, this is the Daily Thread for thurs 24th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

  • Morning BB & all who cross & follow.
I'm up bright & early this morning as we have DS coming to to put air in my car tyres (yes I know I should be able to do it myself) & DN coming to help hubby finish the decking, hubby doesn't have a skill saw & DN has a huge one & is a really good carpenter & as the end of the decking has to accommodate some really strange angles it will be easier if he helps. I just hope it stops raining long enough for them to do it.
I gave the kitchen a good bottoming yesterday & today I'll do the lounge. I also knitted 4 pairs of baby bootees, there is a pic on my blog.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all
Hear the birds tweetling outside which always makes me smile.
BB - laughed at your kids with make up. They surely do apply the colour when they get hold of it :rotfl:
Hester - hope the rain holds off for you. You will have a very posh garden soon!
JackieG - hope the carboot goes well for you today and that buyers arrive with fat purses.
Need to start today with a big tidy up in the kitchen as I didn't do any dishes or tidying in there yesterday and it shows. Didn't change the bed yesterday ( see a pattern here?) so that's a plan too. Need to give myself a big kick up the rear and get things done.
Lunch is pea soup from freezer and tea is something else. See? There is no hope for me getting organised today.
Wishing you all a good weekend.
oh...and :bdaycake: cake for Halight - Happy Birthday (if it is your birthday - I'm following BB's lead here!)

  • Good morning Bargainbird, Hester, Wmf and everyone following.

Grey and wet here, so doesn't look like a day for drying on the line :(
    Out to friends for lunch.
Dinner will be bean goulash today if I get my rear in gear. I better had as I bought the ingredients yesterday evening and the peppers were woopsied, so need using. Will also be feeding DGSs but they won't eat goulash, so will probably cook some G'fe11a pizzas with salad for them.

Really do have to get my rear in gear about cleaning as well, dreaming about it just doesn't get the results!
:bdaycake:Another one following Bbird's lead (lemming? Who's a lemming?) Wishing you a very happy birthday Halight
    Bbird your curry sounds lovely:wave:
Happy Saturday everyone, hugs to all who need or want, Silver x

Up early but still in bed with the lappy.

Not much OS happening today, did loads of HW yesterday as had the day off, and had a visitor so all was clean and tidy :j

Boiledy eggs for breakfast, HM mushroom soup for lunch and going out with friends for an Indian tonight for my birthday (tomorrow:D).

Actually don't know what I'm going to do today, feels weird not to have HQ to do. Might watch Saturday Kitchen in peace, usually have it on while I'm doing other stuff and miss most of it!

Hope it stops raining!!! Have a good Saturday all.

 to any of the oldies who used to post who may be lurking, hope Pen-Pin is doing OK.

Sorry been MIA with having visitors, up earlier, as they are off to the airport today, their bedding in the WM so I can get it on the line before we depart. Several more loads to do too. Good news is it has been glorious weather this week, OS has been on the thin side, but will re-start later, but looks like the washing will dry OK.

Have been skim reading, and some folk in the wars so a dodgy hug for you all :grouphug: :grouphug:

Bargainbird understand your frustration and Bitsy your language will be excused on this occasion as it seemed to sum it up suitably.

Hope u all have good days - will pop back later

    Morning all

Happy birthday to everyone with a birthday today or tomorrow.

Wet, windy and mild here this morning, very wet everywhere looks like it's been raining all night. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock, I woke when he did so got up and had a coffee with him before he left. Drank way too much wine last night so kitchen looked like a bomb site as nothing had been cleaned away, plates, cooking pots etc all just dumped on the worktops! Not nice greeting when you feel a little "delicate"! But did go for a run this morning, that was such hard work, but only did 15 minutes but now feel much better that I have done it, will be having a rest day tomorrow and back to it on Monday.

Dinner last night was chicken in black bean sauce, savoury rice, and vegetable chow mein, and some samosas, and onion banjis, but of a mixture but nice for a change. DW now on, WM ready to be emptied and re-filled. Will be washing, drying (in TD unfortunately), ironing, haven't been very productive over the last couple of days, always get thrown out of routine when kids on holiday. Will be pleased when they go back on Tuesday.

Appointment went well with Mental health team, it was an assessment to decide what kind of help I need and I'll be having Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - just need to wait for letter for appointment to come through.

Need to crack on otherwise I'll be on here all day!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning my lovelies :D

Peeing it down here :( Well I suppose one nice day out of the WHOLE half term can't be bad ;)

Going to be a busy day. Taking H into work quickly, then heading to costco and then off to the Bike Garage to pick up his scooter. That in itself is going to be over £100 so I fully expect to spend today in the region of £200 when I factor in my bulk buy of meat at Costco  Still I only go twice a year so I guess that's not too bad :o

Then I shall come back and start listing on Ebay like mad, got lots of things I want to sell as it's cluttering up my house.

I am eating out tonight with a friend (going to La Tasca yum!) so H will have to fend for himself. need to fit in some baking and making a loaf if I get chance.......busy busy busy.

Not much other OS going on, will get stuck into the housework again next week when the kids go back.

Saw The Kings Speech last night. Colin Firth <swoon> deserves an Oscar, really good film although I didn't think Helen BC had much of a part.

Halight - party.gif Happy Birthday, have a great day and I hope the twins spoil you ;)

    Smokybabe - bday2.gif

Loulou - consoling2.gif for you xx

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning all!

Grey looking outside today, but it's the weekend so yippee!

Didn't find a car yesterday, pfft! But hunt shall resume today after I take dd1 to get her belly button pierced! Not certain why the urge has come upon her, but it has, so we shall be off this morning once she wakes up! Garden jobs didn't happen yesterday either, as was getting on by the time we finished the great car hunt, and it had started to drizzle, plus I was pooped! Was very relieved that gammon was in SC, and ds whipped up some sweet pot and normal mash, leeks and a cheese sauce to go with it, bless him!

OS stuff today: DW loaded and cloths soaking in bleach, will then given kitchen a S&S when make my 2nd cuppa. WM needs to go on as always, hoover needs running around as usual, and I really must chuck out the dead and dying flowers in the house! May or may not get around to putting up pictures in the hall!

Exciting news, for those who haven't noticed me going on on fb, felt spud kick for the first time last night :)

Hope everyone has a lovely day xxx
