I think they must be inundated with claims by now so things are probably taking longer than they should.....they sent me the "reply within 10 days" letter but that was over 2 weeks ago so I posted my "I'm taking you to court if you don't pay up now" letter this week

Still not heard anything from them - if I have not received anything by next Wednesday I'm going to start the court proceedings.

I just hope they threaten to close my account - can't wait to say "go on then" :T

From what I understand all the claims are being delt with their credit services dept & after a 20min conversation with them saying they did not have my 2nd letter, they found it.

Must be really hard for all these banks to check all these claims only knowing too well they MUST pay up.:D
  • £361 claimed, full and final offer for £330 made today, after 1st letter was sent!
  • WOW after reading this post i'm determined to claim back all the charges they slapped on my account over the last 6 years. First Direct USED to be a great bank until I got into financial difficulties.... then they closed my account for me GRRR. I've actually got the last 3 years worth of statements and after a quick scan through I totaled up almost £200 of charges, so watch out FD, you'll be hearing from me soon! (any money won back will go towards paying off my outstanding debt with FD, although I'd much rather put it towards a holiday hehe)
  • Received my letter today offering me full & final settlement.
    Claimed £158, offered £158 :j

I'm so happy, been urging all my friends to claim theirs back too.

Just so you know, this was the series of events:

12 Dec, ordered bank statement by telephone (free).
2 Jan, sent standard letter asking for refund.
4 Jan, received 10 days to respond letter.
18 Jan, received letter offering full & final settlement.

    The easiest £158 I've ever made :D

Hope this inspires somebody else to do the same!

  • After sending a letter threatening court action I received a letter from FD stating they would reply with 10 working days.

What shall I do? Go ahead a start court proceedings now or write to them stating I will start court procedings in 7 working days.

Your replies would be really appreciated

    Cheers

  • Slipstream, if you have been following the templates on here and using the timescales therein I would suggest you go ahead with your Court Action as stated in your letter.

    Hi all,

I'm now at the stage where I'm completing the court claim online. I'm claiming just under £5000 so it will be interesting to see what happens. So far they haven't made any offers at all, probably hoping I'll go away and not bother with the hassle. Wrong!!

Fingers crossed for a successful conclusion.
  • I am about to send FD the template letter regarding bank charge refunds.

My only concern is that I have a loan with them that still has 36 months to run and an overdraft; are there any indications that they will require the account to be closed and the loan settled as a result of obtaining any refunds?

On the whole, I have been satisfied with their service, and certainly the 24 hours phone/internet has been working ok.

the loan is seperate so there shouldnt be any probs there but they could close the bank account.
