Letter sent this day (24/01/07)
Will keep everyone updated..........0 -
I am about to start court proceedings with First Direct but am nervous about writing the letter. The template on this site isnt actually a letter in its own right so has anyone a template which they have used which they can PM or email me, deleting personal info of course.
This would help me out immensly and would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Not quite sure what you mean as you have already sent your letter before action so now its "action" time and you need to go to MoneyClaim and start the court proceedings.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. What do you need to say to the bank? The template letters on the site cover everything you need to say up till you issue a court claim. If you have already sent the two letters asking for your money back and the bank hasn't responded. Issue the court claim without further notice to the bank, you don't need to write to tell them you have done this. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I have just found out from our good friends at Royal Mail that a recorded delivery letter does not mean that at all, it means that it has got lost.
So a further delay in claiming my money back due to postman pat,0 -
Success
Sent off first letter on 08/01/07 for £555 plus interest £663.23.
They said that they are looking into it and expect to hear from them in 10 working days.
Today 27/01/07 I received a letter back explaining all about the account charges and the tariff and the terms and conditions for the account and then in the next paragraph they are willing to give my refund on the charges excluding interest to close the matter. £555
I am going to accept sent back the letter today

Another success (details posted in the success thread)
Just thought I should point out that I deleted the part in the acceptance form that stated that I wanted the money to be paid into my account - I enclosed a covering letter stating that I wanted a cheque and if they didn't send a cheque within 7 days then I would instigate court proceedings
Cheque for £399 received today

Hi All,
I am currently in te process of taking three banks on, FD, Abbey and A&L. Sent initial letter to all 11 Jan 07 received statements by courier from FD on the 18 jan with £10 cheque returned. Sent 1st letter to them 19 Jan and have just received standard acknowledgment letter and promise of investigation and response within ten working days date 23 Jan. Abbey have cashed my cheque but I have heard nothing A&L nothing either. FD are on the ball in fairness to them but £986.75 is coming to me hopefully and that would clear my debt with them and give me £200 for myself. Fingers crossed and I'll keep you updated - any tips on FD gratefully received but they seem the easiest to deal with.0 -
Dilemma time. Claimed £2500, offered £2100. Got my letter the day the deadline for their ten days was due and had my LBA all typed and ready to go. I think I might accept so I can concentrate on the other companies that I am currently in battle withBank charges reclaimed:
£2160 - First Direct
£415 plus court fee - HFC Credit card
£409 + costs + 8% interest RBS Credit card

Honest answer, I'd probably take it too.0
