Do FD transfer the funds into your account?
If so how long should it take?0 -
I have had my bank statements from First Direct for the last 6 years and gone through them totting up charges.
I need to clarify - can I claim for overdraft charges AND excess overdraft charges?
I've already sent off my letter to FD asking for the charges back and including the spreadsheet detailing them but the amount I've asked for includes overdraft fees and excess overdraft fees.
Is this right?Or have I made a balls up?

So I obviously said in the first letter (detailing the money I feel I am owed) that I would epect a reply in 14 days. That's almost up now and I've had no reply.
What do I do - send a second one? The same?0 -

You can't claim for interest that was accrued due to him being overdrawn.0 -

Depends on what they mean by overdraft fees, you can't claim for overdraft interest.0 -
I mean the amount they charge you for having an overdraft facility? Sorry, wasn't clear0
-
If that is termed as a Service Fee then no...
but as you have already put in a claim they will take those off if not applicable in any offer they may make.
Always a good idea to phone the bank and get them to explain what their charges are for and the terms they use.0 -
ETA - I've just called the bank and checked and it is an excess overdraft fee. So I'm claiming for the fees which they've charged me for going over my overdraft limit, and the additional amounts they've charged me when a payment has come out of my account when I've been over my limit.
And it's a total of a WHOPPING £4000+
Can't see them parting with that easily.....
Sorry - to repeat my question, if they don't reply within the 14 days do you resend the same letter, or send the letter threatening court action?0 -
Alison, you can claim overdraft and excess overdraft with First Direct. From past threads/experience FD usually quickly send a letter saying they will get back to you withing 10 working days. Just as this time is up they may sent another similar letter saying it is taking longer than expected and they will get back to you again in 10 working days. My 2nd letter crossed with their second letter. Just when my next deadline was up they made an offer. Their offers are about 80% of the full charges claimed (but not interest).0

Blimey. I can't get over the amount  And that's not including interest either!!!
They have to have replied to the first letter by the 6th - which is then 14 days since I sent it. I've had nothing so far.
So if they don't reply at all to the first one, should I resend it do you think, or skip straight onto the second one?
Thanks for all your advice everyone by the way0
