Hi el, nice to see you back. I have a freezer with drawers in that is always full, but managed to get a small chest freezer on freecycle. As you say, its easier to cook extra and just put it in. Especially if I do stuff like chilli, or rice (although apparently you're not meant to reheat rice!!) My main frustration with the normal freezer was that I didn't have room to have a spare loaf etc.
Slow cooker is a good idea, especially as you work shifts, you could have a hot meal waiting when you get in.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

thanks Gilligan i deff think this going to be the way forward for me, i have tried several times to get a freezer on freecycle, however, the type i need i doubt will ever be available ... i dont want a chest freezer due to my fear of falling into a chest freezer ... i know it sounds weird but when i have been in chest freezers before i have to dangle off the freezer in order to get things out ... this terrifies me, i am scared that i fall in and the freezer seals me in .. stupid i know but one of the many things that being small makes me think about... i think i will start to look into slow cookers this weekend ... i dont know whether to get two or not ... seeing as how i am vegetarian and hubby isnt
i paid money into the mortgage account the other day and today i found out i have a £32 charge for it ... kinda angry at myself tbh i shouldve known better but i have had so much to deal with recently that i just didnt think arrrgghhhh ... hubby is still off of work so that aint gonna make life any easier really either ...0 -
well today i cancelled my pension payments ... till oh gets back to work i cant afford to pay a pension ( i also need to see about more money for me with the way things are at home just now)... i am still considering a slow cooker/pressure cooker/freezer/halogen oven thingy ... to try and cut back on electrcity usage, food bills etc.
i had ordered some things fro q.v.c nail varnishes etc ... Leighton Denny ones ... i was expecting great results but have been sadly disappointed ... i think it is probably more the lifestyle that i lead than anything else tbh ... but i have bought opi and china glaze stuff before and it has been fine ... so i am returning the q.v.c stuff that will be money refunded thankfully ... didnt realy have the money for it in the first place ... i just liked the colours and fancied a treat ... it isnt a treat however if it chips within a few hours so back they go
today i think i will spend a few more hours in the garden.... i am really enjoying spending time by myself...and visiting with friends0 -
well today i tried the bid tv thing ... was reading a thread on the os board about halogen ovens and someone said they got one from bidtv ... so i went on and joined ... i put a bid in (£5) for an oven i doubt it very very much if i will get it tbh but with the way things are just now i am taking the cheap route where i can ... if i dont get it the right one will come along at the right time and price .... i can wait no hurry here0

Good luck with that bid, you never knowBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I would just nip them off, but then again i only muck around myself. My French beans aren't doing to well this year, but the runner beans have come on a bit.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

My chest type freezer is only a little one, about 3 foot square, as that's all the space I had, so little chance of falling in it, but it just means I can batch cook. And freeze things that are on offer. Or at least I could when I had an oven, I can't get the part for mine at the moment,so am still using the little top oven and a halogen which was lent to me by a friend. They take a bit of getting used to.
My veg stuff generally fends for itself, as I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. But there's only me that eats it anyway, other than the strawberries.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
