I have to agree with the cheap eating plan problems - when I was really struggling I was eating pasta every other day and very little fresh fruit and veg, and it can make you feel sluggish, especially if it's a change in diet. It sounds like you definitely need to adapt/ expand it a bit - like you said before it was an experiment and you don't need to stick to that amount. Think you've mentioned replacing the white flour etc with some wholemeal as well, that might help too.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I certainly balance out things with extra's DD2 for instance likes a lot of fruit and i am not going to deny her it. I very rarely buy white pasta and will buy wholemeal. We make a lot of bread so find the taste far nicer than shop bought. The savings are huge either way as you will be cutting back on a lot of things. We eat a lot less meat, and that helps the budget. Don't forget if you are growing things then you can supplement your diet that way as well.
It is all about trial and error and i am sure you will find the right balance for you.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

squizz bob ... your both right .. this is an eating challenge mr el and i are trying... i am just trying to stick to it as closely as i can ... i think when we are done we will deff be doing the whole meal etc and using the dishes that suit us ... incidently they are ok ... i havnt had a bad meal yet with it ... but i now realise i really need my veg and fruit and less fast acting carbs ... it possibly isnt helped with the copious amounts of coffee i have been drinking due to doing all these night shifts that i am just now ...
so tonight i am not going to have any more coffee ... may have one or two tomorrow but i am going to stop myself at two i think

I must check out those books. Never hurts to look at money another way!
OH was due back today (wed), but now not back til next Monday. I am quite blase about it now. i think it might be quite difficult for him to fit back into the household at first. the boys have been generally so good with me,(though their behaviour has been worse since he has changed his arrival time back twice) so it hasn't been too stressful.
Still it will be good to have him back so I can relaxxxx!
chev
you should deff take advantage of the relaxation when you get the chance chev .... i imagine it will be kinda hard at first but i am sure he will soon settle in
would deff recommend those three books ... am reading 4 hour working week just now ... will let you know how i go with that one0 -
I don't think he has been sleeping all that well over there. So I hope he isn't too stressed when he gets back.

Im Having a bit if a quandry i hope some of u can help me with .... Once a month i go to basket making group as im sure some of u are aware ... Well once a year the group pay for a tutor to come and show us a new style of basket this just so happens to be this saturday ... It costs more than the usual group cost ( which is £5) i asked how much more and was told its usually about £20 for the day .... Now finances are tight for us but i though hey for £20 i am learning a new skill it will be worth it so i said yeah ill come put me down
However last night i got an email the price is £25 for the tutor £5 for the hall and £5 for the willow and on top of that i pay £5 for the lift there and back (45 mins each way) i have looked and looked but we just dont have £40 spare i have had to spend £30 extra on diesel this week due to working ina different uni already which is £30 extra that we didnt have ... We are off on holiday soon and just dont have enough for that as it is without trying to find £40 extra
However if i dont go and pay my share it puts the price up for everyone else ... So in a way i feel kinda as if i have to go even though i really cant afford it ... Anyone got any advice ?0 -
Is there a travel lodge near thorpe park i wonder .... U got me thinking now see and i should by all rights be sleeping lol
There are some that are listed as "heathrow" which are literally a couple of miles from Thorpe Park. Not walkable, but in a car just a few mins away, and they were within the £19 deal when I did them. Also, despite the proximity to Heathrow, there was no noise from the airport that we noticed!
As for my advice re basket stuff - don't do it if your only reason is to keep the price down for everyone else. Stop playing the rescuer. You can't afford it.
If others can't afford it as a result of you not going, then that is then down to them to say so, and if the group doesn't run that day as a result of too many people not being able to afford it, then that is reality for you, and has stopped a number of people pushing themselves further into debt.
If, of course, this day is the best opportunity that you will have all year, and you would be devastated to miss it - then you will find the cash from somewhere, but it will be FOR YOU, not for everyone else in the group.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
