thanks chev ... i got the idea for the percentages from the books richest man in babylon and rich dad poor dad ... it seems to make more sense now that i am thinking differently about money .. and i like this idea with doing this 100 month challenge that i am now 1% into changing my money situation around
how are things going for you over in NZ? is hubby home yet?0 -
thanks for the best wishes ... month two will bring excitement in one way or another .... how to manage theme parks with no money will be a continuing saga i am sure
Just catching up, El.......
I used Tesco clubcard vouchers and "bought" Merlin annual passes for me and the children last year - means we have had a whole year of theme parks essentially for free! Mine run out on 7th April so we are having one last trip to Thorpe Park on Sunday before I decide whether to do a similar thing for next year.
If you don't shop at Tesco, you can usually buy clubcard vouchers (and have them converted by the vendor) on ebay for about half the expected cost of the pass, so might be worth a look there. I have also bought them from MSE peeps here so might be worth putting an appeal out too!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. well todays food was veggie burgers .. they were ok nowt too much wrong with them ... but i have figured out where my issues are with this food ...
right as we all know i am a veggie ... and this is a veggie eating plan ... fine fare enough ... but my body is craving veggies and fruit .. let me expand ... i love eating a plate of veggies ... tatties carrots spinach cabbage etc etc just a plate piled high with veggies yum yum yum ... and for afters a plate full of fruit strawbs, kiwi, blueberries , banana etc etc ... i am not used to eating the rice or the pasta or the flour that i am currently eating ... my body is feeling yuck
it came to light when i was eating the veggie burgers i was sitting looking at them going there is something missing here what is it ... it is the fact i desperatley wanted tomatoes, rocket lettuce, feta cheese, cucumber, courgette , celery, etc etc
as i say dont get me wrong it tastes ok i can eat it ... but i feel yuck and i desperately want these other foods ... and this is week two ( at the start)
When I had a look at Weezl's plan I worked out I'd need to tweek it just as you're saying. Like lots of cheap eating, even though it's nutritionally balanced, it tends to bulk out with higher carb as it's cheaper and keeps the prices down. I'd thought that if I tried it, I'd use it for dish ideas, but accept I'd need to add extra salad and veggies etc, probably it would balance out on cost a bit by reducing the portion size slightly.
I know I'd be feeling rough too if I suddenly swapped to a diet significantly higher in carbs.0 -

I must check out those books. Never hurts to look at money another way!
OH was due back today (wed), but now not back til next Monday. I am quite blase about it now. i think it might be quite difficult for him to fit back into the household at first. the boys have been generally so good with me,(though their behaviour has been worse since he has changed his arrival time back twice) so it hasn't been too stressful.
Still it will be good to have him back so I can relaxxxx!

Yep see and its the type of carbs as well .... Fast acting ones not the good for you slow release ones .... I think tbh i may need to cancel the whole eating plan idea and just use some of the recipes instead of the plan as it is playing havoc with my system
Hypno thanks for the tesco idea ... We have all the theme park tickets thankfully ( think they came to just over £900) we just need to pay for the parking 15 days at parks at roughly £10 per park is gonna cost a fair bit .... Then there is the food and drink etc .... Were gonna go to walmart and stock up with water and fruit but we will no doubt buy stuff as well .... I have warned hubby we aint buying no coaster pics ... But he replied with " i want one of those wrist things " eh no i dont think so they cost a bomb ...0 -

Yep but no doubt later on in the year we will do Alton towers and Thorpe park0

Hypno's the expert on using travelodges for visiting the theme parks after her holiday last year. It could be worth budgeting in advance to have cash ready for when they do one of their mega cheap room promotions. Assuming you're wanting the cheap version0
-
When we do alton towers we tend to stay at the travelodge for £19 and for Thorpe park we camp at hurley ( great camp site) but i would be more than willing to look at other options ( much cheapness obviously lol )0
-
Is there a travel lodge near thorpe park i wonder .... U got me thinking now see and i should by all rights be sleeping lol0
