I dont know about this afternoons posts.....but tonights early evening posts got way off topic and nasty, so it looks like the mods intervened and deleted a load.

See my post above as well.

I might have been off topic but I hope I wasn't seen as nasty - would like to be told if I was.

What happened, honestly you log off for a bit and it all kicks off!

Sirloin £7 plus per pack, grabbed 4.

    Overcharged 42p per kilo, disgracful.

Removing the SEL so that they can knowingly overcharge is damn right disgusting.

Drbutler, maybe the fact no one has replied to your question is we dont have a clue what you can do maybe try another store? ask the manager everytime you think about buying an item over £50, I would pick somthing up go to CS ask for the manager wait for him to aprove your purchase, go put it back pick somthing else up back to CS and wait for aproval I am sure that repeating this a few time will annoy the manager who know what he/she will d as a result.

Can somebody please answer this 1
I was told not to buy any item over £50 without getting the manager down first or no r+r if it is needed
As I pointed out this was against his customer poilcy where do I stand?
    thanks

I'm no expert but I've read of posters on MSE (think it was on the Tesco ethics thread) being banned from Tesco stores altogether  or being told they have to tell the manager when they come into the store (not just for items over £50). Some serial R&Rers have allegedly had their details/descriptions circulated to other stores and I have read of at least one MSE R&Rer who has had terrible trouble trying to get Tesco to give him all the data they hold on him (under data protection act).

From what I remember reading these posts regarding Tesco banning/restricting people they know to R&R deliberately, the general consensus seemed to be that Tesco can do this as they are legally able to ban anyone they like from their store (as you can from your home) without even giving a reason. I think that is why many 'expert' R&Rers suggest always paying cash and not using Tesco Clubcard when doing large R&R so that they can't trace you. Some say if you are asked your name and address you should give a false one (lots more about that on the ethics thread). One person said s/he (not sure which) was followed out to his/her car by a security guard who proceeded to write down the registration number!

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you! ;)

  • Since receiving my ban for the grave offence of repeated R&R's at a Tesco store, I have been trying and trying without success to get a response or explanation from Tesco's at all levels for a reason behind my ban. Unsurprisignly of them really, although Ive had responses to my letters, I have not received an explanation for my ban despite repeated requests to do so in writing.

To this end, I now intend to persue this with Trading Standards and Watchdog (if they are interested) as I am now so infruriated with the situation it beggers belief that they can treat their customers in this manner.

If you have been treated in a similar way, or indeed have received a ban, please let me know as it will only strengthen our case.

I have copies of all letters and intend to persue this matter further.

    Thanks,
    Sandy

Don't know if you have been reading the Tesco ethics thread but there are some interesting points made on there re R&R and some people who have been banned etc so it might be worth you posting this on that board too.

You may have already thought about this, but I would think (although I'm no legal expert) that your trump card could be that you were only doing what their own advertising (remember Prunella Scales going round looking for overcharges so she could R&R) was enticing/encouraging you to do!
    Good luck:beer:
