Tesco misprice discussion area part 14

Well, it arrived this morning!
The file of everything Tesco holds about me under my DPA Subject Access Request. I don't know how the postman got it to my house without a wheelbarrow - his back must be killing him right now... it's massive!
It took a few days longer than the 40 days they're allowed by law, but I'll let that slip.
I've not had time to go through it all yet, I've only had a quick glance, but there is mountains of data... records of Clubcard transactions going back to 1997...all the correspondence I've had with Dundee, including internal memos they sent to each other about me (written in very informal language - one CS person calls another CS person a "numpty"). Whether certain incriminating things were deleted or omitted I will never know, but the staff at Dundee certainly seem unprofessional and casual in their style of communication (no surprise there, then).
It's fair to say they know more about me than I do. It's fascinating and also deeply disturbing to think that a company holds such a massive amount of information about my life. Just compare that with the way that supermarkets like Morrisons know absolutely nothing about you.
However the data I actually wanted in the first place doesn't seem to be there: the notes that individual stores made about me and circulated to other stores (unless I've missed it - I'll go through it with a fine toothcomb later). That was why I made the request as I have reason to believe that certain staff recorded and circulated info about me which is defamatory.
Everyone should get a copy of their file, particularly if they've had dealings with Dundee for any reason. It cost £10 which I don't think is excessive - it must have cost them much more in man hours, and the postage alone was £2.55.0 -
Morning all,
Well it looks like a good morning for both of us then Taxiphil.
The postman (not our one on here) has just bought me a very nice letter to say I have WON:j
So a huge thank you to MUNT, WLFC1, Floflo, Silver Charmer, Coupon Mad etc (sorry if I have missed any one)
And guess what - I'm not banned either (Yet!!)We took on Mr T and we won:D
Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now :beer:0 -

    I'm probably being thick, but is the DVD/CD 9.73 a potential RandR?
Does it mean that if you buy any CD/DVD then any other chart based CD/DVD is 9.73? If so, can I just buy 2 boxed sets at (say) £29 and then return one recovering £29 and getting the other for 9.73?
Sorry for any confusion caused, but it's messed me up.
-On another note, so postman gets annoyed (please don't pick on him, I enjoy his posts) and then a few posts later I read how someone's Data file from Tesco nearly broke their postmans back - A coincidence?????:think:0 -

A great result, mate. Well done. That's what I call a JACKPOT.
This is good news for all of us, because it means Tesco are accepting their policy sign does have some legal basis and we can rightly argue that it influenced our decision to shop there in the first place, hence they are contractually obliged to honour the terms of the policy.
Having said that, I'd make an educated guess that their letter to you made no admission of wrongdoing, and their payment was simply a "goodwill gesture". But the hard fact remains - they coughed up!
It just reinforces what I've said before to anyone with a fight on their hands to get a high value R+R.......
Don't waste your time on Dundee! Just write to Head Office (Cheshunt, Hertfordshire) by Recorded Delivery giving them 14 days to do the right thing, or you'll issue a court claim for the refund.0 -

Nope, they have "Sincerly apoligise for the annoyance and the upset this has caused"
They have also thanked me for bringing the matter to their attention.

I wrote to HO about a refused refund and they just sent it all on to Dundee ! I was told that Dundee deal with such things, not HO - who apparently don't have a section dealing with customer problems.
It didn't much matter cos Dundee did sort it out to my satisfaction but I reckon they were telling me a load of rubbish about HO. Which section do you address letters to HO to (apart from the chairman)?ELITE 5:2

I think it depends on the wording of your letter. If it's simply a complaint, then you're quite right, it will get referred to Dundee.
But if you threaten a claim in the County Court (as I recommend you do) for the cash value of the R+R they've failed to honour, then it stays with the Corporate & Legal Affairs department at HO in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Dundee are not legally trained to deal with these things.
See an earlier post I made here for more details about the C & L A department and their contact details.0 -
taxiphil,
Did you receive a DVD with you specifically on it (from the Security Cameras)?
I just wondered if they kept any video of you with all the other info they had.0 -

No. Nothing from store level at all. They appear to have completely ignored my request for info from store level - that was why I did the bloody request in the first place!!!
I know for a fact that information has been recorded about me at store level, as at least two managers demanded my name and address and wrote it down in front of me, promising to "circulate" it together with CCTV images of my face, and another store already knew about me the first time I ever went there - they had been given all my details by another store and apparently I was a "fraudster" for having prior knowledge of misprices before buying the items.
There's a letter in the post to Tesco today, followed by a complaint to the Information Commissioner and a court order allowing me to go in personally and inspect their records if they don't comply by Friday (they're already well outside the 40 days permitted by law, and I'm not giving them any more time - they're just taking the p*ss now).0
