    I think not.

although I have respect for the postie.........

He may appear to be "god" as you say........but I know a lot of others on here, who only outline what they get, without shouting about it as much as the postie does.

Each to his own (quote..."the dude")

Ps...How much are you paying this guy....Postie...........lol

True, but I've no idea how much others have "earned", I have a good idea how much postie has "earned", so for me, he is R&R God, along with 306NOTOUT (what does that username mean by the way?!).

Obviously there will be others that have probably earned £1000's who have been doing it a while, but who [sensibly IMHO] don't shout about it, but I don't know about these do I?

can anyone advice how this works.

buy a certain item and get the other combination item 1/2 price.
cs and head office say this is not a full refund but only for 1/2 price item as it was the 1/2 price item that came up incorrect

Any advice/ words on how to deal with this the next time

    thanks

I have held back from mentioning this so many times now because of the Tesco employees that read this thread but....

Statutory law does not entitle you to a refund or an exchange because you have 'changed your mind' only if the product is faulty, ie. Not fit for purpose etc...

Tesco does offer an exchange/refund policy in addition to this but this is not a statutory right...

I believe the wording on the board says 'Your statutory rights are not affected'

You are correct *flutterby*.......but as Tesco's have their own 28 day rule, (if you are unhappy with the goods), then they HAVE to honour this......unless the rescind it.

Not fit for purpose means the item must be not fit for purpose for what the item is designed to do, not because your mate's already got one. I.e. If it's purpose is to play music then it must reasonably play music, if it doesn't or does it very badly then that would be not fit for purpose. Or in other words faulty, in which case you would be entitled to a refund as your statutory rights weren't affected. However I'm wondering how much they would refund you, maybe they would refund £0.00 as that's what you actually paid in the end?

I see by your posting record, you only found this thread last week. may
I suggest(with respect) you start 20 pages back, or go to the ethics thread, or even read the applicable "rule" we are talking about on the Tesco instore "blue" board

Theres been a load of waffle talked about this recently

We arent talking about Statutory Rights as such, but Tesco's own rules....the 28 day returns rule in particular.

The policy is....If you are unhappy in any way with your goods.................return them within 28 days for a full refund, and as the RandR we get is merely a bribe to avoid possible prosecution, then it should be ignored for 28 day rule purposes.

As Tesco's have coerced people into their stores with such policies as this and the "overcharge" one......they MUST maintain them.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

  • I think there are many different r&r styles, and each has its merits and successes, you have postie who likes to tag team it, and hit a lot of stores big, plushchris who likes a duo with OH when possible, others like me who go solo, mainly cos OH won't get involved at all!!(much to my annoyance), there are some that just visit there local store/s, a few that will spend a day out at it, and others that make a living out of it.

I think its all just beautiful, like life really, there is no correct way, and you create your own path, through your individual experiences. I would just like to thank the community for assisting me in my foraging to date its been quite fruitful.

ps, I prefered your last avatar plushchris, this one looks a bit geeky.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

Leadhead is of course correct in all that he says here ....

And I did cover this ground in my long reply two pages back, (i.e. that your statutory right is to an exchange or refund for a faulty product, and your policy right is to an exchange or refund if you've merely changed your mind for any reason - which is therefore also a legal right due to the promise on the policy board which induced your original purchase from that particular store, rather than from ARGOS for example)

    Anyway good work Leadhead.

The key point in all this is best outlined through example:
    • you will have trouble convincing a customer service member to give you a full refund or exchange on a faulty £1500 tv when your receipt has been crossed through and the word REFUNDED has been written on it, when you merely received an r&r on it.
    • You have been overcharged on a product, so the store have compensated you by giving you back the value you paid, they have marked your receipt "refunded", and you have later found your purchase to be USELESS due to an electrical fault; so you have paid nothing for a product worth nothing - and due to your receipt being incorrectly marked, you will be entitled to NOTHING as compensation for the broken goods you were sold, as the customer service advisor won't have proof of purchase from the store, as you only have proof (by way of receipt) that says you HAVE bought one such item from that store BUT that you have already had it refunded, so are entitled to nothing more!
    • CONCLUSION: Customer Services should be aware of the above problem, and therefore mark r&r receipts with something other than "REFUNDED".

  • Ole1973, is completely right in this, there is little consistancy in the way that tescos customer services fill in your overcharge receipt. Some say O/C, some say refund in full, if they simply just put on there O/C, meaning overcharged then it would be clear that we had gained this item and hadn't already returned it.

How do we go about suggesting this though?, without of course drawing attention to oneself! :D

You can only request it if you see your receipt being marked "REFUNDED".

They should alter it to say OC if you request politely. If they are stubborn about it, you could mention my example on the last page, they should then understand why you don't want them to write "REFUNDED".
  • OK, my email box is getting full of people asking about the yahoogroups r and r list,The Yahoogroups owner has given me approval for this to be posted, I have put the details below, this is a once only post. the group works like this, it takes the info off MSE, friendly CS staff and Laura's site and emails it straight out, a group of people who do IT working during the day and eve pull off the posts and send it via email to your phone as a text message (or anybody thats free and online can help), so its real time and you can act before tesco's do, once a day they send a version with all of the days posts in one message to a wap site so it can be read via wap, the group will tell you how to set your phone up (even a basic phone can be made to get email to text) with your service provider, mines on Orange and it takes about 20 secs for the email to arrive, BUT they will verify you first, send an email to refundit@btinternet.com and let them know your username on Moneysavingexpert and your email address, ask to be added onto the rnr list, they want to make sure that the people they are getting are genuine RnR's and not Tesco staff, it takes about 7/10 days for them to verify you, approve you and add you to the list, you can then post to the list as well as knowing where it is, you can have the emails sent to you straight away or just choose to have the condensed version
