  • Hi people Im a newbie so please be gentle with me, I found this site while trying to find head office for tescos to complain about being manhandled last night in tescos.
after paying for my goods I checked my reciept I was overcharged on 6 packs of triple dvd that i had bought along with two dvd players as xmas gifts, when i spoke to customer services i was accused of bulk buying and was refused a refund,i was told by the store manager that as i was bulk buying (2 of each item) that he would refund and retain me only on one of each item and would just give me a refund on one of each item. i wasnt too happy with him and asked him if i bought two loafs of bread was that also classed as bulk buying..at this stage he got abusive and asked me to leave the store - i refused without my refund and he shoved me from behind until i was out of the store. within minutes the police had arrived and stayed until i left!
can some one please tell me what i do now as i am not happy at the store managers attitude when i think i was clearly in the right.
I am still trying to find head offices phone number to ring them if anyone has it i would be grateful please but a bit of advice before i ring them would also help.

I apologise for being so sceptical but where has the 'new' OP got the phrase 'refund and retain' from? Quite possibly from only from reading this thread and possibly the first post of the thread? Then how have they missed the head office contact details???

I don't condone how you have been treated in the store whatsoever and I believe that Tesco should honor thier policy regardless... but I do question your 'purity' in this.

The frustrating thing is I feel that you have not been honest to the thread but still expect help and advice... This can only be given correctly if we know the whole true story... Eg... Are you sure you've never been overcharged before? Are you sure the staff who dealt with you have no reason to suspect you?
  • Good Morning,

Last night I purchased an Xbox 360 for my brothers birthday.

There was 2 prices for Xbox 360's in the store, £194 ish and £279.97.

I picked up a box from the shelf showing £279.97 as this is what I wanted to get, went to the counter and purchased it.

I got home to find I had been charged £297.81 so I rang up and was told to come back in.

When I got there I was offered the difference which but then I pointed out your overcharge policy!

The customer service then got very funny with me!

Now bearing in mind the only shelf edge lables in the store for the Xbox 360 were £194.xx and £279.97 no matter where you looked in the store and i was charged £297.81.

Also, can I use a different store for a refund & retain process other than the one I purchased from?

Can you please advise me on what to do now?

Sadly these were out of stock at my store, perhaps someones already got them. :D

Not many stores stock them, guess you'll need to be quick & lucky.

Also the Bush LCD TV £499 offer ended yesterday had a new white SEL today still at £499 so I'd guess this has stayed £499.

  • Not happy with tescos, I personally would be contacting the police first for the excessive force in removing you from the store, this is a criminal charge of assault. You had of course done nothing wrong. I assume in saying this that you did no more than discuss your disgust in your bill with them, and did not use abusive language or appear to be aggresive or threatening.

I would request that the police get hold of the tape demonstrating your removal from the store as this is proof of the nature of the attack by them on you.

I would also write to Sir T leahy about this experience and explain that you intend pressing charges against his manager in this store. You may be on private property but they have no right to physically assault you while removing you from the premises, they should have waited for the police before undertaking any action.

I would also contact your local trading standards office in relation to the overcharge they have made, and request that they take action against tescos.

Keep all documentation and log all telephone conversation, and names of all people that you talk to. Do not on any circumstance take this lying down, this needs to be addressed only when it is made clear to Tescos that these actions are not acceptable will the intimidation of customers by their staff be rectified.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.
  • I tried to take Mr T up on their kind offer of buy 2 save £1 on their Tesco Finest Cooked & Continental(?) meat..... big yellow shelf label stating that, and it didn't mention what was and wasn't included.... so to me that says any that are "Finest"? Doesn't it? Well obviously I know that those that are included have a yellow sticker, but little old granny doing her shopping doesn't does she? So I bought 4 packs of the carved ham, didn't get the discount, and tried to claim my overcharge. I went to the shelf with the CS asst, and pointed out the offer. She says that only the ones with yellow shelf labels are included, I say, "how am I supposed to know that?" She says "well, it's obvious", "errr no, it isn't" I say, "shouldn't it be like that label over there that lists what is excluded?", and she says.... wait for it.... "that's silly, we'd have to list everything else that's in the shop"!!!!! :rotfl: So, I passed on that one, got a full refund as I already had some chicken that they were giving me a refund on and walked away ..... and got back to work and reported them to consumer direct for misleading POS!! They've already called me and are passing it over to TS!

Give customer services a call on 0800 505555 as this is a case of an overcharge.

I've seen them in a store this morning but they are 'out of stock'.

All you need is a store that stocks these and has left yesterdays SEL up !

    Good Luck.
