I agree with POPPYOSCAR it's only been a few narrowminded people that have been nasty about the post, ignore them, karma is a wonderful thing, I know, I've witnessed it first hand, and very satisfying it was too :D don't let them get to you, your night sounds like it will be well thought out, and a pleasant evening for all who attend.

I don't think anyone has been narrowminded or nasty. They were arguing their point eloquently about clairvoyants.

Some people (and because of their personal experiences) don't like them that much.

It wouldn't stop me using somewhere if it was the odd event, but if something did this on a regular basis I wouldn't be keen.

That's just my opinion. Each to their own. And yes, I've lost a lot of people close to me, used clairvoyants, and now I don't.

Really don't get your point about karma, because they dis-agreed politely with a post on the internet? They weren't being vicious at all. Can't see karma coming into that.

If you read the oringinal question, it was for ideas for a clairvoyant night, some people chose to be really quite rude I think in trying to TELL everyone that it's a load of crap. As you say each to their own, but you can't force people to agree with your opinion as some people did. I think karma does come into it, there was no respect shown to what some people believe in with the things that were said.

I don't think a teashop is like a conference or community centre-it is a more personal business and yes I certainly have friends who are churchgoers who would avoid establishments that actively promoted something they would feel was completely opposite to their beliefs. As the OP was looking at expanding her customer base it's certainly something she should consider.

Customers can take offence at the most trivial of things (or what seems trivial to the business owner) and it can impact on a businees. If the majority of customers are say elderly and churchgoing (something I can imagine as typical teashop customers being as the pub or winebar isn't their thing) a bit of market research amongst current customers might be useful .

Thanks to Violetta & Moneybot for your support just because you do not believe there is no point mocking other people, shame on you both, it is times like this when i feel like never posting on here again because of some of these pea brain posters. Hope you are both happy with yourselves and hope that if you ever loose anyone close you will not have to call on anything like this.

Umm actually you can't know from reading my posts if I believe in clairvoyants or not. I do however have a sense of humour and the link was funny ;)

I have just lost somebody close to me, thanks for asking, and no I would not go to a clairvoyant as I am happy in my beliefs and do not need this kind of "link" with the dead. I think it was most insensitive of you to assume that I had not suffered any kind of personal loss.

You do not need this kind of "link" with the dead but many other people do and get great comfort from this.I have never been myself but I know others that have and it has been invaluable to them.So I have to say that it does annoy me when people ridicule it >who are they to say that these people are vunerable and being taken advantage of when they are benefiting from it.

Are we getting into who is going to have the last post thing?

I didn't say you had mentioned conning people but some on this thread have and I was commenting on that.(my actual words were when they say and not when you say)

Of course you can reply to posts I love keeping a dialogue going!

Sorry it was just you quoted me in your post then did the whole dig at people so to the casual reader who may not bother to go back and read the whole thread (you know who you are ;) ) it might appear that I was the one you are having a go at. You see how the misunderstanding could arise? So if you could just confirm it wasn't me you were targeting there it would be nice. :)

It does make me worry though about the whole having it in a tea shop idea I mean if people are getting so worked up about the whole thing it could turn ugly if you got a mixed crowd. The believers and the non believes there only to mock. Having said that wouldn't one of the clairvoyants be able to tell if it was going to go well in advance?

No fair you edited whilst I was typing!

Not one of the thousands of of so called psychics, mediums, clairvoyants etc have ever been shown to be genuine. Ever. You may choose to believe the Barnum statements and generalities purporting to be 'predictions' or 'contacts' - that is entirely your prerogative. Many many have been proven repeatedly to be fakes and frauds, usually without denting their profit margins too much due to their customers (not clients but paying customers) unswerving belief.

If just one person could demonstrate unequivocally they have any 'sixth sense' or 'psychic ability' that would be news on a par with a world wide event, when you consider the implications. It won't happen because its all tripe.

If all the world was as small minded as you its a wonder we how we have got where we are today. There was a time it was believed that going faster than 5 MPH could kill you, it has not been 100 years since mans first flite but now we can go to the moon. You statement that "Not one of the thousands of of so called psychics, mediums, clairvoyants etc have ever been shown to be genuine." is base form what research? because as far as I am aware not everyone has been dismissed. I asume from your statement that you do not believe in a God too.

Most people who go to these event treat them as Fun, a night out.
