Apologies to anyone that thinks I may be strident in my criticisms - it was not intended. I just get so wound up by the dismissal of everything the human race has done over millennia to improve the lives of us all. Combine this with the labelling of small children as 'seers' and the like and I just can't help feeling both annoyed and saddened.

Also, to use the term empirical evidence is sadly misleading at best and a downright lie at worst. Not only is there no evidence at all but empirical...understand the term before you bandy it about in your attempts to sound like it is supported by anything other than hearsay and subjective stories.

As for being on topic - I thought I had been. The most popular and busy establishments I have worked and in have all offered either good value food or excellent quality. The other key point is customer service. I am sure many would agree with me on that point. How many rants have we all read here with poor customer service being the key complaint. That isn't to suggest the OP doesn't already know this - more that it is worth re-iterating. It doesn't sound like she has any issues in her business and is looking to just expand her customer base. In the current climate I wish her the very best and also congratulations for maintaining a nice sounding business in the harsh conditions all businesses, big and small, currently face.

Also, whilst the OPs story is both heartwarming and seems to show there might be something in it, I would suggest that without the 'reading' and then thinking about it, in conjunction with the personal upheavels described, that the path may not have been taken to move etc. Not a bad thing though - if only all these experiences could have such a positive outcome!

Best of luck and happiness to you and your family.

MY degree is in Psychology hun so I am well aware what Empirical means - but as YOU obviously don't then read this from wikipedia.....

From the Miriam Webster online dictionary empirical means: 1 : originating in or based on observation or experience 2 : relying on experience or observation alone often without due regard for system and theory 3 : capable of being verified or disproved by observation or experiment
AND - From a Psychology dictionary : Derived from naturalistic observation of from experimental procedures.
Empirical evidence is evidence from observations. From my understanding it can be through naturalistic observation (the in depth observation of a phenomenon in its natural setting) or Experimental (maniplulating an independent variable to observe its effects on a dependant variable). Experimental evidence is much more reliable as naturalistic observations are vulnerable to researcher bias.
    Theories of Knowledge

Empirical evidence is a fancy way of describing facts that can be experienced and tested only through the senses. I suppose you can only compare that to mathematical or logical facts, which depend on reasoning alone (as in the solution of a quadratic equation, for example).

I think football is a stupid game that cons millions of people out of their money. Perhaps I should boycott everywhere that shows it on TV?

    quoted in red above.

and here you are dismissing a human being, how contradictory, there has been many a medium giving accurate reading for just as long, but back in those days the were called witches and burned at the stake by people who had views such as yours.

you dont know what emperical evidence is, how can it be a lie or misleading?
  • Thanks to Violetta & Moneybot for your support just because you do not believe there is no point mocking other people, shame on you both, it is times like this when i feel like never posting on here again because of some of these pea brain posters. Hope you are both happy with yourselves and hope that if you ever loose anyone close you will not have to call on anything like this.

  • I agree with POPPYOSCAR it's only been a few narrowminded people that have been nasty about the post, ignore them, karma is a wonderful thing, I know, I've witnessed it first hand, and very satisfying it was too :D don't let them get to you, your night sounds like it will be well thought out, and a pleasant evening for all who attend.

Not sure why you are saying "that if they ever lose anyone close" for? They probably have lost someone close to them.
