Just a mention to get the OP to check her Friday Ad as there used to be a regular evening held for this in a little church hall in her home town. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

It does make me worry though about the whole having it in a tea shop idea I mean if people are getting so worked up about the whole thing it could turn ugly if you got a mixed crowd. The believers and the non believes there only to mock. Having said that wouldn't one of the clairvoyants be able to tell if it was going to go well in advance?
It's not going to happen when the tea shop is open, it will be a closed event, people will know what it is, so why would they go if it doesn't interest them? I'd assume most people would have the manners to respect other people's believes and not go just to mock. Do you go to church to mock people who believe in God? Last time I checked there has been no proof God exists yet people like yourself and Crystaltips think it's fine to have a go at people who believe in spirit.
I think some people who are posting are extremely disrespectful, and should maybe take a step back before they post such judgemental comments.Sealed Pot Challenge member 1315

Excuse me but you clearly haven't bothered to read my posts as I have not had a go at people who believe in spirits!
I think some people posting keep getting things way out of proportion as we are talking about a tea shop event not the second coming (or the third coming for anybody who believes we have had the second coming)Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

To MONEYBOT:
Sorry for your loss, it was not intended to be insensitive i was merely saying that other people have the advantage of taking comfort in what they believe in and may need when they have suffered a loss, as you rightly say you are happy with your beliefs which suit you, none of us on here mock what you believe in so why come on here and mock us.
In your last post you state that: Are we getting into who is going to have the last post thing?
and you still have to mock in your last post?
Having said that wouldn't one of the clairvoyants be able to tell if it was going to go well in advance?0 -

All the best with your venuture julie0 -
Hi OP,
I wonder if you knew how contraversial your post would be!
I have never been to a clairvoyant but I have friends that have and they have had a great time. Some truly believed others went with an open mind and for the entertainment. In fact, some have been told things that just cannot be explained and they were true. Not about loved ones who have passed over but other things.
You sound like you have a lovely tea room and I can't see that holding an event like this would mean that your regulars who disagreed would boycott.
I would go along with an open mind and if I enjoyed nothing else I am sure that the cake would make it worthwhile.
If you held a Bible reading event, be careful that the athiests or any other non Christians don't boycott too though.0 -

Hmm are you saying nobody would mock me for what I believe in? I'm not really going with that one as there is always somebody ready to mock. And there was a slight element of you don't belong in your come on and mock us. Not liking the we belong you don't tone to that at all.
It was a serious question would a clairvoyant be able to tell if it would go well in advance?Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

To Moneybot.
Sorry do not understand where i have suggested the "you don't belong in your come on and mock us"
And also i firmly believe that you did not post that as a serious question, anyway fed up with the arguing, backbiting on here i have more important things to be getting on with like arranging my evening, i have had the support and help that i have orginally asked for, so many people have p md me privately because they to are fed up with people getting into an argument over what started off as a fun night with friends and people that wanted to come with open minds.
I WISH YOU WELL WITH YOUR BELIEFS AND I SHALL CONTINUE WITH MINE.

As a mater of interest why did you post on the relationships board not the small business one?

Excuse me but you clearly haven't bothered to read my posts as I have not had a go at people who believe in spirits! Not really the same thing though is it? If you felt somebody or some organisation was exploiting people then you would boycott them/it. Some of the posters clearly have a strong negative reaction to the idea of a clairvoyants evening and it might be worth the OP from doing a quick poll of her customers in case they also have these feelings.
If it's old and creaky why not have a ghost story evening?
ps why is this in the relationships etc thread? Shouldn't it be in businesses or something?
I have read your posts yes, and I think saying you feel an organisation is exploiting people is having a go, as have others on this post, it's the same as saying if you go to church, they're exploiting you by asking for a donation. It's not a cult, people aren't brainwashed into believing or not, it's a personal choice, you are invited to go along if you wish, and not if you don't!
I agree with Julie, this thread is getting completely off topic.
Julie, I wish you well with your evening, I hope it goes as well as I think it will xxxSealed Pot Challenge member 1315
