I don't think it is fear, more likely concern that people are being exploited and wasting their money.
HOW are they being exploited geri? people who go to clairvoyant evenings know what they are doing. has the clairvoyant forced them to go?
as for wasting their money.....thats a matter of opinion isnt it? I consider football and most sports a complete waste of money - so I dont go to them! and consider those who do, complete idiots for paying so much to sit in the freezing cold and watch overpriced sschoolboys play ball! but if thats what they want to do..............I wouldnt dream of stopping them!0 -
I went to a vintage pop up shop evening at my local tea rooms, great dresses, lovely crowd and excellent tea and cake. Perhaps your local vintage shop would fancy joining up with you on something like this?
Your hosting of a clairvoyant evening would not stop me visiting your tea rooms at any time when you were not hosting such an event.0 -
Not all clairvoyants/psychics are mediums therefore there is no contacting of those who have passed just predictions of what may happen in the future.
If someone desires to contact a loved one who has passed there is no charge for going to a spiritualist church service.
Everyone's path is different there is no need to be disgusted.
Not one of the thousands of of so called psychics, mediums, clairvoyants etc have ever been shown to be genuine. Ever. You may choose to believe the Barnum statements and generalities purporting to be 'predictions' or 'contacts' - that is entirely your prerogative. Many many have been proven repeatedly to be fakes and frauds, usually without denting their profit margins too much due to their customers (not clients but paying customers) unswerving belief.
If just one person could demonstrate unequivocally they have any 'sixth sense' or 'psychic ability' that would be news on a par with a world wide event, when you consider the implications. It won't happen because its all tripe."Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley.

In your opinion.
I am not aware of the "Barnum statement" you refer to. I don't have a need for documented evidence.
Personally I keep my own counsel. It has been proven to me personally time after time without any need for handing over money or consulting "advertising/famous" psychics (or any psychics at all) that there is indeed a "sixth sense" as you refer to it and a life beyond this one.
As I said everyone's path is different. My "sixth sense" works for me on a daily basis. You should tune into yours occasionally you might be quite surprised.Freebies Received: Supersavvyme bag, Olay moisturiser, Barbara Daly/Tesco Mascara, Seeds of Change Choccie, Yorkshire Tea Kenyan teabags, Tesco mobile sim cards x 2.

There is enough wonder and intrigue in the world, its organisms and even the human body and its reactions to outside influences without resorting to the unbelievable. New discoveries that enhance our knowledge. Developement of ideas into practical application. Art production - music, the ability to produce beauty from pigment or rock. Exploration from a microscope view to a telescope.
Unless you are a (example) shark, bat, pigeon, I am afraid that despite your belief, you only have the five physical senses. Of course we all have what could be a sixth sense to some - certainly one of our major influences and what separates us from 'animals' if you like...its called imagination."Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." I have my own experiences - and I believe the evidence of my own eyes. I also have a granddaughter who spooks the hell out of everyone by KNOWING when women are pregnant even before THEY do! and correctly predicting the sex of the baby! she has done this since she was THREE years old. is she out to prey on the vulnerable? she also 'sees' ghosts as we call them. so does her twin but her twin doesnt do the baby predictions. and they will say things that only the ghosts family will know. our family are used to it now and we HAVE to believe them - they have been right every time. I dont give a toss about lab tests etc. I have the living proof and thousands of years of empirical evidence. Laboratory evidence means nothing - just look at how laboratory evidence gave us wonder drugs - which turned out to be killers or maimers!0

I think the best way to do it is to make it into a social event and charge a small fee on the door to include refreshments and possibly a talk and the psychics can do readings and charge per reading. Some people will come to socialise and have a cup of tea and piece of cake. And some people will have a reading as well. I have worked at dating/social events in London. There is a psychic cafe in Southampton so you could get some ideas from them. Also I believe there was a psychic tea room in New York. So combining the two even now and again is a good idea.0

There is NO empirical evidence. Not a jot.
They believe because you believe as do their family, and, like religion, they are being brought up to believe what the family believes. Its inherited like language.
Remember your statement when you next need the wonder drugs that are antibiotics, painkillers and the like. Never mind contraception. Three of the biggest world changing developments. Tell the people that are alive because of anti-retro viral drugs or cancer research how 'wonder drugs' are killers. Or the researchers that have genetically modified rice to be vitamin A rich, and therefore have the capability of preventing about 500,000 child deaths a year in the developing world (if given the chance to actually implement its growth and distribution). Perhaps be as dismissive about the development of IVF and specialised fertility treatments that give people (admittedly rich by comparison to developing nations) the chance to have families when heartbreaking infertility issues were accepted before. How about writing off the science and real evidence that has given us organ transplantation and, in the future, stem cell research that will enable growth of genetically identical organs that won't get rejected.
Carry on believing in mysticism whilst people with the imagination and intelligent wherewithal have a crack at figuring out the genetics and, one day, cures for illnesses that we all now see in our workmates, families, friends and familiar faces. They are the ones that are the true hope givers. If you believe other wise then pop down to Holland and Barratt for your next course of medical treatment.
And before you trot out any failings - remember, trial and error is how many of these things are discovered. Without clinical trials, with scientists and researchers - none of the above (a mere snippet of empirical (in the true sense)) treatments and discoveries would ever be made, much less implemented.
Back to the original topic. After years working part and full time in the catering industry - I would say the best way to run a sustainable profitable and happy cafe/tea shop is generosity combined with value for money if lower end of market. Higher end and it is quality every time, with beautiful looking delicious food. The biggest draw by far though is friendly and professional staff. I never go back to somewhere that has poor service or hygiene standards even if the meal was ok. Gimmicks are not needed, although promotional nights/afternoons are a great way to draw in custom which are then there to impress with the above points."Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley.

Far from it. I can't see plenty I believe in.
Physics and astronomy discoveries are very rarely 'visible' in the sense you imply. Even much of biology is difficult to visualise. The discovery of the double helix structure of DNA. by using xray crystallography being a prime example. The identification of the first viruses, using filters that prevented bacterial spread but not tobacco mosaic disease is another.
You may be as dismissive as you like (water off a ducks back). Doesn't make you any more right. Faith and belief are poor substitutes for knowledge."Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley.
