i am sure that there will be other people along that think that this will be a good fun evening and surely those that believe that these are charlatans and can not afford it will not come anyway so there will be more room for those of us that believe.

The point I was making, and I think others too, was whether on a business footing it was a sensible thing to so.

Will you make enough money from a few of these evenings to compensate you for possible loss of custom from regulars who are offended by these things? Or will you attract enough new customers to replace them?

Some people may not agree with clairvoyancy but not feel strongly enough to boycott you because of this, but others will feel very strongly indeed. Irrespective of your own belief in it, I don't think from a business perspective you can ignore the fact that it is a controversial subject, and that you are therefore running a risk by putting something like this on. If that's one you are happy to run, then fair enough but weigh up the financial pros and cons first.

my dad organised one and I was 'ticket collector' Tickets were £6.

Ours was an evening affair we had maybe 6 who each did a spot on stage then did private readings at £10 each..

Drinks etc were paid for by the inividuals.. those who wanted to come in for a drink alone could then just get a drink.

We had a raffle and a 'stall' with crystals and candles and fairy/angel ornaments etc.. I manned that too..

I think the type of venue you have it is more akin to church socials, knitting/sewing groups. How about something really different? Swishing event? Evening of song? ... with a piano/guitar and some old songs? story/poetry readings? Or find someone who is an agent for Ann Summers/Avon/Tupperware and have a 'party'?

I don't understand why there's so much negativity in those comments. Claivorant evening is the same event like quiz/ band/ caraoke night. If someone doesn't like it, won't come. From other hand, there are people seriously enjoying this types of entrentaiment.
  • We have a coffee shop/tea room near where I work, the girls who own it also have a beauty salon on the upper floor that does nails/tanning/reiki/hot stone massage and other alternative therapies. They also have a lady from the local spiritualist church who rents a room once a month and does readings for those who are interested.

Once a month or so on a saturday evening they hold a spiritual supper and charge £15/head for a three course meal and a couple of spiritualist readers going from table to table to read tarot or do psychometry. They advertise it on the notice board in the shop, it doesn't seem to have affected their daily customers.

If some of your customers are expressing interest give it a go.

I think that you may lose some customers - but gain others! I like your idea and I have been to spiritualist meetings (was a regular at local spiritualist church until working hours clashed), also to the type of event you describe. I would ask both clairvoyants to do perhaps an hour on stage, then do some pre-booked private readings too if you have a private area that is! I would charge admission hun but as your space is limited, then perhaps admission by ticket only?
  • Scared and worried??? Absolutely not.

Disgusted at the blatant thievery of money and trust from people desperate to believe their loved ones aren't gone forever and manipulated to believe lies.

Not all clairvoyants/psychics are mediums therefore there is no contacting of those who have passed just predictions of what may happen in the future.

If someone desires to contact a loved one who has passed there is no charge for going to a spiritualist church service.

Everyone's path is different there is no need to be disgusted.

I dont know why any mention of clairvoyance and or spiritualism provokes such venom? fear perhaps? people are afraid of what they dont know and obviously some of the people who have spoken here KNOW nothing about clairvoyance and clairvoyant evenings

I don't think it is fear, more likely concern that people are being exploited and wasting their money.
