I had real problems on 1 computer so tried a different one and got a £29 room which is fine by me!

However I wouldnt be complaining like some on here if I didnt get one..... did you expect it to be easy? Can you imagine the amount of people that tried to get these rooms....... most web sites will struggle with that demand all at once... and of course they would be a delay in the updating of available rooms...... there was 100's of people all trying to book the same rooms.

Give them a chance.... they're doing there best.... how many other hotels do you see giving us a chance to have cheap rooms??!
    2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j

    Well said !

I just hope that 'nursie' who posted it ORGINALLY (on travel boards) before Martin included it in the mailout got some ! If it wasn't for her, most of us wouldn't be going anywhere near London !!

  • Just for the record, I did manage to (eventually) book a £1 room and it was through flash, not HTML so not sure how that happened

Well, actually, I booked 2 rooms for 1 night, but didn't realise that this wasn't allowed so have re-booked one of them for £29 cos i'm a good girly and I don't wanna be seen to be greedy! I have cancelled the other £1 room, but whether or not some lucky beggar also got it for £1 is anyone's guess!

Ah well, that's my good deed for the day, plus I get 2 rooms for the total of £31 ( 1@ £1, 1@ £29 and the £1 already paid for the cancelled room) so i'm still well chuffed!

Don't think so as they are 'proudly' announcing they sold their £1 rooms out in 35 mins on their website now and will more than happily sell yours at a better rate ;)

Good for you for doing the right thing, you would have lost out on both rooms for the sake of £29 it was well worth it !

I agree totally, if you try and get 200 people through a doorway at the same time then what do you think will happen ? somebody will get hurt !!!!
I missed the 12.30 because of a meeting but casually logged in at 12.40 purposely for 2x £29 rooms and i could have booked either of the two dates i wanted so i think by waiting a few mins i prevented myself from pulling my hair out with error messages, i'm a happy bunny !

i think in future maybe they shouldn't tell you what time the rooms will be available, just say 200 rooms will be made available at sometime on 17th Nov etc etc

I lucked out on this. I had a room on a sat night in jan was almost booked and someone came into the office and started talking to me for 10 mins. By the time i went back it had timed out, then there were only a handful of rooms left on weeknights and the server kept timing out when i tried to book, so ended up with nothing!

    Boo Hiss.

You have them right now, but according to their Ts&Cs they will cancel your bookings.
Just because they haven't done it within 2 hours, doesn't mean they won't.

I hope they don't but I'm just alerting you to what it says.

Someone rang up beforehand to clarify this (think it's on page 2).

And it couldnt have been clearer on the site,

One room, One night per person

if you weren't allowed a £1 room for more than a night, then surely the system wouldn't allow you to book 3 nights.

    No I don't think that's right.
I can't remeber whether it's the T&Cs or the FAQs but it states that their system WILL let you book it but they will cancel it.

You are assuming their system is clever enough to enforce their rules and they clearly state it isn't.

If you want further info then I suggest you read the Ts&Cs and FAQs (sorry can't remember exactly where it was).
They wouldn't cancel it X amount of hours down the line.

Sorry but that's exactly what they said they would do.
Whether they will actually do it I couldn't say.
I think they were trying to stop people being too greedy and taking loads (nothing implied).

If I have time I'll try and dig it out and quote it, but I am actually at work.

hope you and your friend enjoys the half empty £1.00 beds spread over two rooms.

oh... we are going to bring our other half to enjoy this 1 pound room, so i am afraid we won't have any empty bed

Have just spoken to the Hoxton reservations (why I didn't think of that an hour ago I don't know)

I confirmed with them my TWO reservations, albeit one is in my mum's name and was paid with her credit card etc and they are both on their system fine and dandy and to make sure I didn't get excited about it and then lose the rooms - I asked the girl about having the £1 room for 3 nights and she said I didn't have MORE THAN ONE ROOM so it was ok.

I will of course phone up and check again with someone else to make sure - but my reservations stand.
