I have booked a room, whch I am very very pleased about. However that has not as yet debited my bank account......
has anyone had theirs debited yet?

Just hoping that they have not 'forgotten' my booking...

    Thanks

I got one of the £1 rooms last time and it was ages before my card was debited - at one point I thought they were not going to bother! No problems at all with the booking, though - so don't worry. As long as you have the booking reference you will be OK.

When we stayed there last time we had to give them a CC number on check-in, to which they charged (but not debited) a small amount (£20 I think). On check-out we settled our bill to the grand sum of £1 - we decided to pay cash!!! Hence our CC was never actually debited...I don't think I've explained that very well; what I am trying to say is that by having your CC number on booking they can reserve the right to charge you whether you turn up or not; by placing a charge on check-in they can ensure that your bill is paid whether you check out or not.

I had 2 bookings through a booking error both at £1. I asked for it to be changed and was told it would be, but I got charged for both. When I got to the hotel last night I still had 2 bookings.. but as it was just me here I couldn't use both!

The hotel is lovely - except my shower was broken this morning hence me now running late to get to the library.. boo. It's just been fixed though thankfully. Looks like it happens a lot though as the guy knew exactly what to do :S

what a shame, we could have come with you!
  • We've just got back from a few days in Paris, and stayed at the Hoxton Hotel the night before we left. Booked a couple of months back for £29 and was delighted with the stay.

We checked in and walked into the room to find a man and woman already in there!, but it seemed they were just preparing the room as a light bulb had gone out.

Great start to a nice holiday.

Can anyone that stayed here give me some tips on places to eat / visit etc etc? We're only there one night but want to make sure we visit a few places.

As you walk from the station to the hotel you will see a place that looks quite ok to eat at(sorry, cant remember its name) apart from that id hop on the train and go somewhere as even though hotel is fab(we had room service so didnt eat out) , the area looks like a bit of a rough area . .. saying that, i think there was a pizza express not too far away but i didnt fancy exploring for it in case i got mugged!

theres some lovely bars and cafes in the sqaure which is a 2 minute walk away. i was there for 4 nights before christmas and spent every day in the heart of the city then came back to the hotel at about 7.00 and went to the square. its a very friendly safe area as far as i was concerned.
  • hello can anyone tell me if the reservation is transferrable. I don't think I am going to be able to make it can't get cheap rail travel......
