no, it's tripe because they blamed the error message on there not being any rooms left for that date when, in fact, there were. the Flash set up was screwed but they won't admit it.

I tried (with different dates each time) and kept getting 'CONNECTION STATUS: Unable to submit reservation' and 'Invalid_RateType'. Don't mind not getting a £1 room but now I'm not sure that the site is entirely secure. Didn't see that little padlock thingy you're meant to look out for when you enter your card details

Wow - I can't believe how many spoilt brats there are!

I forgot about it originally, and started trying to get a room about 12:45. Had a room, but the system had the error so I lost it.

You win some - you lose some.

Try https://www.travellodge.co.uk for some cheap rooms, or Holliday Inn have some BOGOF rooms if you do a search of the forums.

It was VERY unlikely to get these rooms - and congrats to the people who did.

Frankly YES.
It was a very limited offer with many limited parties.

It was unrealistic to expect to get one, although many of us hoped for one.

If you are really keen for your grandma to visit you then why don't you give her your bed for the weekend and share with a mate, or ask one of your mates if you can sleep on your floor.
Why don't you arrange it when oe of your students mates is going back home and there is a spare room free.

I'm sure there is a solution to your problem, but blaming other people isn't it.

Well done to all the people that got a £1 room.
I got a £29 plus a £59 and I'm very pleased with that. I think it's a bargain for the location and standard of hotel.

I'm not behaving like a spoilt child, i'm behaving like an angry consumer trying to both expose the cracks in their service and guilt trip them into improving.

I didn't actually mean that the trip wouldn't happen - it will. I wouldn't tell my nanna "sorry, you can't come cos the hotel is more than a pound".

the people that got rooms used the html form rather than the flash site which the link took you to

I have been over on this thread in travel trips and holidays and I got a room for £29 for a weekend as there were NEVER any £1 rooms for the weekend but also got £1 rooms for my mum, mid week though for 3 nights.
